We bring you our first event of the year! This time descending into XLR, providing a double headliner show that will live long in the memory. Sydney based artists Mincy & Killjoy stop off in Manchester for a night packed full of bass music.
A mainstay of underground bassline & dubstep, Killjoy is responsible for plenty of head-turning productions in recent years. Ahead of its release on 'Slimzos Recordings' last year, ‘Hellcat’ took over the 140 scene so much that you couldn’t catch a set without it or one of its six remixes getting a spin. ‘Let’s Go’ demands equal notoriety with heavy bass riffs attuned to Killjoys signature style along with 4x4 drums that were made for a basement dancefloor.
Delving into other genres such as acid with a release on ‘Hardcore Energy’ under his alter alias 606Supa, you can expect a Killjoy set to cover plenty of ground on the night.
Synonymous with Australian bass music, Mincy has built up a reputation in recent years as a genre-bending DJ turning to bass, techno, jungle & rave in her sets. Mincy’s productions follow a similar pattern with a solo EP on Bristol imprint ‘Shall Not Fade’ packed full of bass driven cuts, a collaboration EP with AK sports traversing techno and plenty of releases on her own label, ‘Extra Spicy’, covering breakbeat, speed garage & rave.
A privilege to bring Mincy to Manchester for the first time, it will be one to stay for when she closes out our next one on the 10th of May.
A rising DJ based in Manchester, Woody Boase is quickly gaining attention on the club circuit having played at the likes of Hidden, Soup & XLR. Expect an hour of seamless blends from house & garage to leftfield bass & breaks to set the tone for the night.
Curator Gills completes the lineup.
