- ATTENTION SPINDRIFTERS! Spring is springing, and an all-new edition of your favorite genre-agnostic “ambient” party series is back March 23 with a stellar lineup! We’re featuring a trio of live sets from three producers and musicians whose music has truly inspired us: Downstairs J J Albert Kaho Matsui Visuals by YosukeVJ From his warm, lush and dubby techno productions, to his beloved bedroom r&b releases, to last year’s quietly mesmerizing ambient collaboration with Will August Park, J. Albert is a fixture of the NYC underground and a true embodiment of Spindrift’s adventurous approach to sound. Co-headlining will be Downstairs J, whose releases such as “basement, etc.” on Incienso Records are a defining voice in modern downtempo and leftfield electronic music with their inviting, bouncy and utterly delightful sound palette. To kick things off, we welcome Philly’s own multi-talented producer, musician and composer Kaho Matsui. From tender emo guitar ambient, to glitchy computer music and field recordings, to hints of IDM and drum & bass, her works create an inspiring, personal and wildly inventive sound world. Finally, we’ll have visuals by YosukeVJ -- you may know their incredible skills as a selector or their legendary Concrete party series, but we are giving Yosuke’s long-running practice creating immersive motion graphics time to shine, and you’re in for a trip! As always, Spindrift is co-curated by DJ Papaya and Pontiac Streator, with flyer design by the talented Opheliaxz -- see you at the Pottery Gym! Doors open at 8pm and music runs 9pm-12:30 am, on Saturday January 6th at the Pottery Gym. Tickets are available via RA for $15 early bird, and $20-$25 sliding scale at the door.
