- Promise holds a Movement Festival preparty celebrating Detroit in Toronto. Exceptional Movement festival headliners visiting and teaming up with Toronto's best dj Detroit fans. Funktion One soundsystem and an awesome new cavernous 1000 person venue right in the heart of the city. The last party of the Promise Inside series is super strong - a huge Detroit-inspired dust-up in a great new downtown spot, featuring visitor Djs - Promise favourite Hiroko Yamamura from Chicago and Dj Seoul from Detroit Techno Militia - alongside Detroit native Antwon Faulkner and a smashing team of Toronto powerhouses with love for the Motor City. All of this in a new 2-room 1000-person venue right downtown with unfinished concrete pillars and walls, nice tall ceilings and plenty of room to dance at the bottom floor of a skyscraper. It’s very reminiscent of the raw spaces used for the infamous 24-hour Detroit after parties. There were a couple of one-off hidden parties there last year, and the owners have offered us unique access to it for this important event. Detroit is the birthplace of techno and holds one of the strongest and best festivals in the world each May. Hundreds of thousands of people descend on that epic city for a thundering bacchanalia of music and fun people from everywhere. Toronto is only 4 hours away so there are legions of Movement fans here who go religiously and Promise has enjoyed a decade-long relationship with the festival, passing along our love for their vision. 2013 saw a Promise Movement pre-party in a laser-filled towering cathedral, and in 2017 it was Dj Godfather at 500 Keele for a wild warehouse throwdown.
