We are delighted to invite you to the second live session of AAITF at Studio dB, following a fabulous first edition with the Niger group 'Etran de l'Air' last September. This time we are inviting the prodigious Naghib Shanbehzadeh, an artist we met during a residency in Rome in late December, a highly talented percussionist.
Born in 1993 in Boushehr, Naghib Shanbehzadeh began playing music at the age of three alongside his father Saeed. Having received a double oral transmission (traditional percussion from the south of Iran) and written (Western percussion at the Créteil conservatory), he can boast of more than a decade of stage experience both solo and alongside renowned musicians around the globe.
He is part of the Shanbehzadeh Ensemble,
founded by internationally acclaimed Iranian musician and dancer, Saeed Shanbehzadeh in 1990. Saeed, who traces his ancestry to Zanzibar in East Africa was born in Bushehr, Iran, where he started playing music at the age of 7 with the old masters of the music of the region. He began with percussions, singing, and traditional dance. At 20 he founded the group of Shanbehzadeh Ensemble. A prolific career will follow as a dance teacher and performer.
Naghib Shanbehzadeh will perform something elaborated especially for AAITF so make sure to not miss it.
The night will focus largely on Persian culture, but as is our custom, we will blend styles and sonic legacies, inviting you to traverse musical bridges between cultures. Naghib Shanbezadeh will be accompanied by AAITF resident Dauwd, a producer and DJ who will add his electronic touch to the performance. Naghib's performances are extraordinary in terms of vitality and technique, undoubtedly one of the greatest of his generation, offering a journey into the rhythm of life that guarantees an ecstatic dance. Maryisonacid will open the evening with an atmospheric set and a broad selection of global south music. To conclude, Zadeh, the new sensation soon to be signed on Dauwd's label Psssh, will present a multi-genre and experimental set.
