  • On SATURDAY 3/30/24, LFS presents an evening with LFS host/resident JEREMY SOLE and special guest LA's own Anthony Valadez. Anthony Valadez: His voice has been heard on the likes of KCRW and KROQ with his hand picked favorites and love for music discovery. For over 25 years he could be found at his residencies across LA(Natural History Museum of LA, Temple Bar, Little Temple)and in Vegas (SLS Hotel) sprinkling his magic and eclectic sounds. He’s opened for the likes of Meshell Ndegeocello, Prince, Cam’ron, Slick Rick and even Jennifer Lopez who handpicked him for her homecoming show in the Bronx. JEREMY SOLE: Chicago-born L.A. resident Jeremy Sole has been collecting vinyl from around the world for 30 years to build his own global sound. Sole’s remixes and live DJ sets are soundtracks for the “genre non-conforming”, blending or downright transcending era, style, tempo and genre. He has had the honor of sharing the stage and/or recording in the studio with hundreds of his inspirations over his career, including Stevie Wonder, Roy Ayers, Chaka Khan, Moses Sumney, James Blake and many more. Gilles Peterson named Sole "#2 DJ Of The Year, 2011" as well as "Radio Show Of The Year, 2014". Sole was the last DJ to open for both Ray Charles and Gil Scott-Heron on what turned out to be their final concerts. He deejayed for Sly Stone's birthday party, worked on music for a year with Ms. Lauryn Hill, enlisted Daptone musicians to reimagine a 1976 classic for David Bowie in his final days, and was asked to spin traditional New Orleans funeral dirges atop a giant animatronic octopus with Susan Sarandon, leading a procession of hundreds through Burning Man to bring Timothy Leary’s ashes to the temple. Sole is most widely known for his weekly KCRW radio show, now in its 16th year, where he helped break many now-major artists with their first radio plays including Black Pumas, Hiatus Kaiyote, Michael Kiwanuka, The Shakes (now Alabama Shakes). He aired the world radio debuts of music for Santana, Bardo (Chicano Batman), Rhye, Gary Clark Jr, Yusuf (Cat Stevens), Aaron Frazer, Saul Williams and countless others. About LE FRIQUE SONIQUE: LFS (Le Frique Sonique) goes down monthly at the Moroccan Lounge on the outskirts of Little Tokyo and the dtla Arts District. Bodies of every shape and shade move together, sweating out the toxins of the day – absolutely all are welcome here and intolerance is not tolerated. Celebrating the bold, untamed styles of every culture and genre worldwide. Sounds from Lagos to Bahia, Brooklyn to Bogota, Detroit to Berlin, Kingston to Chicago, London and beyond. These LFS events are unique in that THERE IS NO OPENING ACT. From 9:30 until 10pm we gather in the front bar. Then at 10 the doors to the main room open, we all walk in together, Sole plays the first record and we co-create the 4-hour journey together. Long Beach’s Native Sol will be doing a pop-up and selling the LFS merch, all printed on vintage T’s, jackets, jumpers, jean shirts, hot pants and army fatigues all one-of-a-kind, hand-sourced by Sole. Ozi’s Kitchen cooking fresh Jamaican dishes (Vegan options too).
