  • Boundary Condition features 9+ artists in a hybrid of audiovisual live sets & immersive projections; extreme plunderphonics, sonic archaeology, contemporary folk, unequal temperaments, ritual subjects, visceral subterranean chants, freejazz improv, radiophonic interdisciplinary composition, tape disintigration, anti-ambient, and percussive non-music in a post-industrialist glass factory. The current phase deploys a practice-as-research model of discoursing phenomenology of the various archetypes of atrophy through psychoacoustics, audible interdependence, and sombre studies on degradation, memory, and time. Abstract Encounters by Blanca Regina and Pierre Bouvier Abstract Encounters is the latest audiovisual performance by Blanca Regina and Pierre Bouvier Patron. It explores symbolic gestures, affinity with nature and questions about presence, space and its representation in the digital age. This playful performance is created in real-time with an open score including music recordings with Benedict Taylor (viola), Art Terry (piano and voice) and Blanca Regina (objects, voice and electronics), listening and reacting to conjuring the art of the moment. This project pushes the boundaries of traditional audiovisual language, combining multiple media by using analogue and digital techniques, presenting an immersive and dream-like experience for the audience with abstract imagery, films, animation, field recordings, vocal extravaganza and music created with objects. Blanca Regina is an interdisciplinary artist, tutor and independent curator based in London who works with spontaneous composition systems using voice, objects, electronics and visuals. She creates films, music, videomapping, design projects and book arts. With free improviser Steve Beresford and filmmaker Pierre Bouvier Patron, she established Unpredictable Series, focused on explorations in music and visual arts. Her work has been supported by Arts Council England, Sound & Music, BMC, Amexcid, Photo-España and Garage Cube with presentations in the UK at Cafe Oto, Turner Contemporary, Barbican, Tate Modern, The Ceramic House and Centrala. B E O R H T A B E O R H T A emerges from celtic folk traditions, channelling grief work through the voice (caoineadh) with and alongside the land. Their ceremonial performances invite an exploration of ancestral ties and fragmentation as a way to confront mass repression of how we process loss; both personally and interdependently. A spell of evolving and decaying drone, dark votive harmonies and spoken word- this project is dedicated to the magical practice of sharing presence through silence and sound as a form of alchemising grief into mobilising. The work shared with this iteration of Boundary Condition is dedicated to the elemental energy of water, from the river to the sea. Dirar Kalash dirar kalash is a Palestinian musician, sound artist, Sonic Liberation Front founder whose work spans a wide range of musical and sonic practices within a variety of instrumental (oud, piano, saxophone), compositional and improvisational contexts. kalash also extends his practice into inter-disciplinary theoretical research. he has produced several solo and collaborative musical albums and is active as touring musician, in addition to that he also created several sound installations, live audio-visual performances (Exist Festival, Cafe Oto, Refuge Worldwide), and photography projects. The Sonic Liberation Front was established on Radio alHara راديو الحارة as an act of resistance by a collective of sound artists who recorded the sound of protests in Palestinian streets, aiming to unite and support the people of Palestine. Howlround Howlround is a quintet (four slightly battered machines machines, one slightly battered operator in the shape of sound artist Robin The Fog) that create recordings and performances entirely from manipulating natural acoustic sounds on vintage reel-to-reel tape machines, with all additional effects or artificial reverb strictly forbidden. Howlround’s live events are always a spectacle in which haunting and uncanny soundscapes are created – part sound design, part chaotic performance art. Their records have been compared to William Basinski (who I toured with in 2015), Burial and Selected Ambient Works-era Aphex Twin. Robin produces sound designs for several BBC Radio 4 dramas, broadcast packages for Radio 4 and BBC World Service, as well as contributions to Radio 3’s Between The Ears, ABC Australia, NTS, and many more. Yamen Mekdad (DJ Set) Yamen Mekdad is a producer, organizer, DJ B2B and radio host based in London. His interests in field recording, archiving, activism and grassroots organising have led him to found Sawt of the Earth, Makkam and Sadaa Sound Syndicate, all focusing on radical collaboration across the sonic sphere. He is a contributor to a number of radio stations, including Al Hara, Root and Balamii, and was a co-host of DanDana podcast on SOAS Radio. His eclectic sets move between experimental club and contemporary folk music to drony and ritualistic sounds. Yamen is co-founder of the Syrian Cassette Archives, a web based platform that preserves the Syrian cassette era, Yamen is also a music programmer for SACF. Gyorgy Ono (DJ Set) Gyorgy Ono is a Georgian artist whose work explores fragmentation through a spice of occult exotica from spoken word, hissy cassette experiments, and slithery snake rhythms amongst blissfully delinquent ambiances of borrowed sounds. A timelessness arises from this sonic archaeology, whether in his audiovisual Netil radio ‘Icarus Blue’ residency, curation of the diverse and genre-spanning Creatures rave, or all the rogue frequencies he traces from thin air Cerpintxt & Ruben Cerpintxt & Ruben is a collaborative performance focused in darkjazz with hyperromantic undertones. Using wind instruments, piano, musical saw, vocals, tape and reel-to reel, found objects and vessels, and modular synthesis, the duo recontextualize jazz in a post-Lynchian limbo. Alongside it, the flickering scenarios and found sounds of Musique Concrète, and inert cyclicality of hauntological loops project the residue of all that which could have been, as prosthetic sentiments. Cerpintxt is an electroacoustic progress report concerned with generating an invented language of a particular strain of softness through auto-destruction, phonetic entropy, and augmented instrumentation. Ruben is a jazz pianist, key and synth performer, where he combines harmonic and melodic material with electronic processing and sampling. Pierre Bouvier Patron is a visual artist based in London. He is currently working with different media such as digital video and film, exploring the boundaries between them and creating moving image works and installations. He has been involved in video screenings and performances, solo or in collaboration with musicians such as Syd Kemp, Neil’s Children, and many others. Billy Pleasant Billy Pleasant is Boundary Condition's resident projectionist, working with a range of mechanisms including generative projectionism, reverse perspective illusion , AI rendering, organic footage, projection mapping, sound-responsive visuals, and collagist audio-visual approaches.
