Amsterdam’s Sandrien is back, this time in STUDIO. The former De School resident is primarily known for her versatile and evocative take on techno and house. With years spent behind the counter at Rush Hour, however, her record collection and knowledge of music is comprehensive, and a house-y detour is all in a day’s work for her. Sandrien is a true DJ’s DJ, blending with finesse and fine-tuned control while locating surprising nodes of energy from delectable rarities. She has a knack for the truly hypnotic, going in on humid atmospheres, unhurried grooves and raw pulsating bass that elevates the dancefloor. She finds a willing compatriot in Jason Kendig, whose status at STUDIO is well established. The Honey Soundsystem co-founder draws on queer as deep and intertwined as an old growth root system. Kendig’s glowing, clear-eyed expressivity is both mercurial and utterly open, holding space for all comers. Por Detroit co-founder Perfect Lovers makes his debut at the club. The party is one of North America’s most infamous queer hubs, known for its unrestrained power and lurid, liberated energy.
