BIG TROUBLE, SIGNAL, AND BONES BEHIND BARS PRESENTS: THREE OF A KIND. On April 13, three house/techno powerhouses collide to bring you a floor filling, chunky, groovy night. Expect house, techno, acid house, breaks, and everything in between. The event will be taking place at The Drake Underground, a venue located in the basement of the Drake Hotel which opened its doors 1890. We have curated a lineup very unique to Toronto's underground music scene: Andre Zimmer (Black Book, Shall Not Fade, Hellbent), AKWA, Jacob de Hooge, and Venus in Foil.

Andre Zimmer:
Big Trouble Records founder Andre Zimmer has had his success through his hip-house anthems supported by top performing global DJ's all over the world. Andre brings 90's house elements into a unique and fresh twist, genre spanning from House to Techno to UKG to Acid. Andre has worked with DJ's such as Fast Eddie, completing an official remix which is currently charting on Beatport and receiving global radio play. Andre has recently signed an EP with Shall Not Fade, showcasing his underground UK Garage sounds, set to release on vinyl and digital in late 2024.
Big Trouble has seen success in a short amount of time, with sold out shows, sold out vinyl pressings, and unique artwork that sets the label aside from most in the industry. After playing in Mexico, Montreal, Toronto, and other cities, Andre's sound captures a wide audience and satisfies all the heads who have collected music and dig through vinyl crates.
AKWA:
AKWA is starting to make a major impact on the house and techno scene within Ontario and 2024 is proving to be a new chapter for the 2001-born DJ, producer, and event curator.
Determined to grow the local scene in Ottawa, AKWA has curated and hosted over 15 shows in his hometown through his new underground techno event collective SIGNAL. A fan and curator of parties since an earlier age - starting the collective just made sense. Since May, SIGNAL has hosted international DJs Will Clarke, X-Coast and ZEDDA K along with 30 local acts across 15 shows including 2 sold-out block party shows on one of Ottawa’s most iconic streets - BANK ST.
Backed by fans in Ottawa and Kingston, AKWA is now based in Toronto where he’s determined to further establish himself and SIGNAL as an underground music powerhouse within Toronto and Canada as a whole. Recently fresh off his festival debut this summer at Veld Music Festival 2023 the young DJ, producer and event curator is ready to make waves in the scene while also growing its community in 2024.
Jacob de Hooge:
Based in Toronto, Canada Jacob de Hooge is a DJ / producer with an
enduring love for dance music in all its forms. His live sets often draw from a varied timeline of dance music history with an emphasis on giving the audience the right track for the right
moment.
Along with his powerful DJ sets Jacob’s has begun to develop a
catalogue of his own original productions. With a strong focus on
technical sampling of disco records, his style pays homage to classic
elements of house, techno and jungle music with a new school twist.
Venus in Foil:
Venus in Foil is a Toronto-based DJ. She plays with tension and release in her sets - shifting between high-octane techno and slippery psychedelic selections, adding unexpected infusions of anything from ethereal club to sleazy new beat.
