We're very happy to welcome sound artist Nandele to the listening space for a very special afternoon.
Nandele Maguni is one of the artists at the forefront of the underground scene in Maputo, Mozambique. He throws psychedelic, experimental and hip hop influences together to design hypnotic, mind-bending tracks with a truly rhythmic core that speak to his tireless quest in shaping the modernity of Mozambique into music and refusing Western mannerisms of electronic music. He also nurtures the fledgeling music community, supporting new artists and venues while making music in dizzying constellations of collaborative projects.
'1994' is a sound project by Nandele. It's inspired by sound everywhere, synthesis, semi-collective transports, “Chapa 100”, movie soundtracks, noise and ambient. Most of the production of this piece is made using analogue equipment like Synthesizers, DAW, samples recorded using a cassette recorder and a phone in Maputo - Mozambique and Rotterdam - Netherlands.
