- Our Label Night format dives deep into the sounds and artists that make our favorite labels what they are. For this edition, we’re zooming in on Sure Thing, the Brooklyn-based label, event, and mix series founded by Aaron J. Sure Thing has been curating events since 2014, starting off with events in the Bay Area and Los Angeles featuring artists across a wide range of genres and styles – from Veronica Vasicka to K-Hand, Laurel Halo to Bok Bok, Tzusing to Robert Hood. Through events, the label has also explored a wide range of collaborations with other parties and collaborations – with bass heads Parameter in San Francisco; Portland, Oregon’s Spend the Night; Chicago’s Astral Undertones; and regular collaborations with Lychee in Boston and NYC. The label’s mix series maps a global underground of deep, atmospheric sounds and artists and label heads who are likely heroes in their own locales. In 2019, Sure Thing launched as a record label on top of these other endeavors. The fifth label release dropped in 2022, featuring Polygonia, a prolific producer and DJ based in Munich who has been rapidly ascending as a global star. The founder of her own label, QEONE, and a member of the IO collective of audiovisual artists, Polygonia played a live ambient set at Nowadays for subMerge back in October 2023. She’s back to show us that she’s just as adept at moving a dancefloor as she is at building experimental soundscapes – and that sometimes, the two aren’t mutually exclusive. /// Online purchases are limited to four tickets maximum per person.
