- ***WE PRESS PLAY AGAIN IN MAY*** Our journey with Tola started in February & we kicked off our story with them in a special way, so it’s time to return with 25.05.24 being the time to dance this round. We feel proper privileged to continue the vibes after Gala Festival, one of our favourite festivals & even better, in our beloved Peckham & what better way to do that than invite our friends RAW SILK, who have donned the decks for them in P Rye several times. Our slick slick selectors this way: ~ RAW SILK – This is the alias of best pals Grace & Steph, an ode to the short-lived 80’s boogie duo. What started as a humble night in Peckham back in 2016, they were shortly picked up by party-starters Percolate & asked to be residents. Since then, their sets continue to recreate a taste of the dance-floor freedom they’d experienced whilst living in Melbourne together many moons ago. RAW SILK have played across the UK & have visited Beirut, The Hague, Helsinki, Barcelona + more, but in recent years they’ve graced the booths of the infamous Pikes, Glastonbury, Sneaky Pete’s & Printworks, to name a few. Always more at home in a small club, versus a big stage, their eclectic style means they can do both, cracking on with the warm-up slot but also delivering at belting peak time hours. These days, they’ve left the disco 12’s behind, but the focus is still fun, making sure to never take themselves too seriously. Never stuck in one decade, expect a range of pumping house, stomping EBM, balearic synths, breaks, drums, VOCALS, POP! Their different styles create a balance, but the common thread is to make people dance. Last year, they toured with Confidence Man, & their 90’s house remix of Conman’s ‘Toy Boy’ has been doing the rounds, plus their take on Polychrome’s ‘Unloved’ single sees them explore their varied sound, putting an acidy breaks spin on the orchestral group. 2024 sees their residency continue on Foundation FM, with more production plans in place for later in the year. ~ Mr James – A selector born & bred in London. On the dancefloor, James seamlessly blends 90s house with obscure disco, creating unforgettable moments at renowned clubs and festivals like Lost Village, We Out Here, and the legendary Pikes Ibiza. His debut track 'Uh Oh' has even graced the airwaves of BBC Radio 1. 1/3 of Tapes top dons & residents, another good mood driver in control of the feels for the night. ~ Tilt – Luke & Robbie, two northerners in the big smoke that have been hosting/playing parties in some of London’s top underground venues & controlling dance floors for over 9 years together. During these musical journeys they've been fusing many inspirations & sounds with Italo, Cosmic, Space & Pumping House ever present nicely accompanied by many a-well-matched-sub-genre. With Tilt being 2/3 of the Tapes head honchos & residents, they’ll be bringing the noise & delivering the vibes from start to finish. It's only good times at a Tapes party, this next one will be much more of the same.
