Deadbeat / Scott Monteith >
Deadbeat has performed at some of the world's most respected festivals, including Barcelona's Sonar, Berlin's Transmediale, and Montreal's own Mutek. From 1999 to late 2003, Scott worked, assuming various roles, for the Montreal based company Applied Acoustics Systems, makers of the Tassman Software Synthesizer. Having now moved on to pursue his own musical efforts full time, the experience has left him with a passion for the development of new creative interfaces, and a strong grasp of some the most cutting edge technology in the industry.
Whether crafting quirky, not-quite-dancefloor techno, or rumbling digital dub,Scott continually strives to create music that honors the past beyond empty tribute or cultural appropriation, by infusing the digital tools of the present with a little of the magic known as human imperfection. Hindered only by the occasional buffer underrun or synapse misfiring, Scott continues to search for his own unique voice between the ones and zeros.
Billy Dalessandro >
American composer, producer and live performer born in Chicago. He is one of the founders of Siteholder Records. Himself co-owner of Chicago’s Siteholder Records, he signed nine albums and a myriad of EPs on famed labels such as Force Inc., Resopal, Harthouse, Soniculture and Archipel. Dalessandro can often be seen behind the decks of clubs in Berlin, London, Lisbon and Barcelona, but invariably comes home to headline some of Montréal’s most famous events, such as Piknic Électronik and MUTEK.

An auteur in her own right, Sara Magnan, aka Magnanime, creates a techno-house hybrid rife with experimental nuances, embracing mistakes of technology and recycling odd noises into her perpetually evolving, beat driven repertoire. Her music takes inspiration from her cosmopolitan experience, in constant reinvention and metamorphosis and not without a sociopolitical side and authenticities. The past year has been major for Magnan, seeing the official release of her 12” EP Don’t Wait for Me on Chicago label Siteholder – two original tracks of dynamic tech rhythms and processed vocals on the far edge of house, plus a remix by Akufen. Other recent tracks exude slow-burning intrigue and warped tape loop vocals, sustained synth riffs, staccato beats and an evocative sample arsenal. Live, Magnanime’s forward thinking production process and enthusiasm for listener’s reactions shines, aware of her environment she manifests a dance music experience that is a kind of exchange with the audience.
