- We are a charity event in support of People In Harmony- a non-profit organisation for mixed-race people, families and couples, with the aim to influence and improve ways in which public services such as education, health, social care, and criminal justice are delivered through discussion and debate, research, campaign and the arts. so… Join us for an eclectic night of South Asian banghra and Bollywood, alongside Latin American Baile funk and reggaeton. Indulge in the incredible lineup including: Cain- Bagpiper turned DJ who makes dance music heavily influenced by world music- African-inspired sounds, Indian musical traditions and folk music interweave seamlessly throughout his tracks. Carmen- Carmen has influenced the Glasgow music scene through her bright funky Latin beats and Bossa nova tracks. Playing at the likes of Sub Club, Nice N Sleazy and Berkeley Suite, Carmen will be sure to get you up and on the dance floor until late! Prithvi- A Scottish resident and frequent DJ at the Bongo Club in Edinburgh, Prithvi’s Desi roots shine through in his tracks, with Punjabi aspects mixed into strong techno tracks. Loreto is a Glasgow based vocalist and DJ. On decks, she brings a blend of genres from Afrohouse and Batida to Brazilian Funk, Hip-Hop and Reggaeton among other Latin percussive rhythms. Promoting the event are two community projects that have found a common ground- wanting to celebrate the mixed community in Glasgow through the universal language of music. @wearemishrit. We are Katya and Tarika, two uni students who set out to create a safe space for mixed South Asian residents. The aim was to create a space where people could come and have a chat, learn and teach about their culture and experiences of being mixed in Scotland. Los Otros was created by photographer, Peter Clark. It aims to explore and provide visibility and acknowledgement to the Latin American community in Glasgow. Upon realisation that there are many Latinxs in Glasgow, without much of a well connected community, Peter sought to bring Latinxs together through his simple photo project, allowing them to validate their cultural identity and share their experiences.
