BODY HIGH is a femme, trans, and GNC-centered space where everyone can, and are encouraged to, move and dance as loudly and however they feel called to — while feeling safe and celebrated, and while honoring the history of the Black and queer roots of house and club music.
This is a space where original club dance forms like voguing, house dancing, and waacking are normal in a club environment, rather than feeling like a spectacle or pushed to the edges of the dance floor. Simultaneously, we open the space up for ~anyone~ to move, freely, without judgement, even if they don't consider themselves a "dancer".

Sevyn is a DJ and producer from Washington DC, based in LA, with a deeply rooted love for music. They draw inspiration from the energy of house, techno, jazz, electro, and dance with an underbelly of soulful vocal tracks that make you move.

Charles Hawthorne (they/them) is a Black queer DJ, event producer, and community builder based in Oakland, CA. Through their music and community work, they strive to create spaces where queer and trans people can gather to move their bodies and cultivate joy.
Hot track selection and divinatory crowd reading have made Charles Hawthorne a force behind the decks and in the nightlife community. Voted 48 Hills’ Best DJ in the Bay “22 and ‘23, their unique blend of disco, house, club, and RnB ushers a journey through the history and movement of Black queer dance music. Charles believes you can’t trust a DJ who doesn’t dance, and their movement, energy, and connection behind the decks are a testament to that. The proof is in the pudding, honey!
Charles is a resident curator and event producer for Nectar Social Club and they currently serve as the Board President of Oaklash.

VARSHA is a DJ, freestyle dancer, and model from the San Francisco Bay Area, and is bicoastal between New York and the west coast. Her music taste and DJ practice is deeply inspired by the communities of artists and dancers from the queer and freestyle dance cultures that she is a part of, primarily the freestyle house dance & ballroom scenes. Through her bouncy, playful, and deep selections she strives to channel the vibrant energy of these scenes, encouraging party-goers to feel boundless in their bodies and their movement. She's passionate about bringing the underground club scene & dancers back together, by nurturing self-expression, joy, and community at her events — an aim which she achieves via her seminal Oakland-based party and monthly radio show, BODY HIGH.
This spring will also see the release of a dance music compilation titled 'I.Y.K.Y.K.', that she’s co-curated with her business partner 4AM NYC, under the label Air Texture.
