BFDM is one of the most exciting French labels, distinguished by its humorous and deeply satirical style. Over the past three years, it has released works by many pioneering French musicians such as Simo Cell, Maoupa Mazzocchetti, and J-Zbel, undoubtedly thanks to the mastermind behind it all, Judaah. He is dedicated to adding bricks and mortar to the renewal of the underground music scene, constantly seeking out uncategorizable and alien sounds. As part of BFDM's tenth-anniversary world tour, Judaah brings along signature artist Simo Cell and their friend Yunus from Amsterdam.
Hailing from Nantes, France, Simo Cell is an indispensable figure in contemporary bass music. His individual works, like those released under the label TEMƎT, embody an aesthetic that pursues and propels the depths of bass space, with multiple percussive rhythms, impactful basslines, and exquisite sound design. Drawing inspiration from the diverse music styles of the UK, he has honed his forward-thinking creativity, releasing works on esteemed British labels like Livity Sound and Timedance. Simultaneously, he is deeply engaged in the French music scene, releasing several highly acclaimed EPs in collaboration with the notorious BFDM. In 2022, his collaboration with the equally talented bass maestro Skee Mask was hailed by Pitchfork as one of the best mixes of the year.
Yunus is the creative mind behind the stage designs of world-renowned music festivals such as Dekmantel, DGTL, and Waking Life. As a DJ, he also enjoys exploring new sounds, particularly focusing on the spectrum of complex rhythms, ranging from UK Bass and Jungle to Breakbeat. Transformation and evolution are fundamental principles in his visual and musical work.
