  • On May 10th, 2019 BASEMENT opened its doors for the first time. To celebrate the anniversary, Ben Klock headlines. The Klockworks label boss is one of techno’s true global ambassadors. His productions and selections helped to solidify the Berlin sound - monumental but spacious, impactful, icy and consistently thrilling. A club DJ at heart, Klock’s international touring schedule hasn’t changed his core one bit. “Of course the connection to the crowd is a bit different if you play in a 500 capacity club or on a stage in front of 10,000 people,” he said in an interview. “I love the intimate vibe in a club, I love feeling the people close to me.” BASEMENT resident Newa extends this energy with a decisive, sleek and exuberant sound. Newa is a true gem, an artist whose fluid approach mixing and core musicality makes tracks bloom. Flux founder ÆON returns to the room for a proper wrangling. Her approach matches the rigor of true school immersive techno with a dash of freewheeling fun. Outlaw resident Cotton adds fuel to the fire. There’s a stark rawness to Cotton’s DJing that demands your attention, and a subtly that rewards your focus. Resident Lydo plays STUDIO alongside a pair of b2bs. Lydo is a name that should be familiar to all club attendees - their uninterrupted reign at BASEMENT has been a blessing. Between their curation as the organizer of X-TRA.Services and their exceptional, versatile playing, Lydo has made their indelible imprint on the club. Though Lydo is a techno artist par excellence, a set at STUDIO allows them to tap into the deeper, more aqueous corners of their collection. When the occasion calls for it, they tease out a subtextual sensuousness to the level of text. Old friends Matas and Jek bring back their b2b. At last year’s anniversary they closed STUDIO - this year we’re bringing it back. As solo artists, they slide right into the groove, with plenty of dubby heft and rolling bliss. As a b2b they egg each other on, ratcheting up the interplay with enviable camaraderie. Meilgaarden and Ian Crane meet up for a proper saturation session. The two will practically repaint the room with glistening, futuristic hues. ■ No photos or videos ■ Ticket purchase does not guarantee entrance ■ No phone use on the dancefloor ■ The dance floor is for dancing, not conversation ■ No glowing/flashing clothes or items ■ Respect other people's space, no shuffling ■ Consent is mandatory ■ Zero tolerance for racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, ableism or any form of discrimination ■ Take care of each other, alert our staff if somebody isn't feeling well ■ Violating the house rules will result in removal PLEASE REVIEW HOUSE POLICIES AT LINK BELOW
