- Word on ‘The Streets’ is that something special is coming… Mike Skinner makes his long-awaited return to fabric on June 14th, and details of a special project are to be revealed soon. Skinner created his revolutionary album 'Original Pirate Material' from his childhood bedroom. The album pioneered UK rap at a time when most rap music was being imitated or imported from America. Then suddenly, there was a kid from Birmingham rapping with a straight face about the details of everyday life in Britain, from chips thrown in kebab shops to Vauxhall Novas to scrambled eggs. Joining him is Garage royalty MJ Cole joins. MJ’s musical journey started from a young age where he was classically trained on the oboe and piano leading him to earn scholarships at both the Royal College of Music Junior Department and the City of London School. Post-university, MJ became the trusted engineer and lead producer of tracks on the UK garage label V.I.P. and a pirate radio DJ on London Underground FM. From this, he produced his most recognised track “Sincere” in 1998 which became one of the earliest garage records to break into the top 40 on the UK Singles Chart. Alongside these two heavyweights are K-Lone, Skeptic, Lu.Re & Jaguar. Slump Sounds take over Room 3. -------- Entry 19+. Please remember to bring ID with you.
