  • Living legend Justin Strauss hardly needs introduction. Since the age of 17 (when his first band Milk 'N' Cookies signed to Island Records) Strauss' career has read like a who’s who of club music history. After being taken under the wing of Larry Levan at NYC's famed Paradise Garage, Strauss became a resident DJ at Mudd Club, Limelight, and Area, where he pioneered his own distinctive sound as one of the most sought after remixers and producers in the game. From Depeche Mode to Luther Vandross, Skinny Puppy to Fine Young Cannibals, his discography of remixes and original music is diverse and inimitable. With a monthly show at Lot Radio, in addition to regular gigs at contemporary NYC institutions like Public Records and Good Room, Strauss is a truly rare multi-generational talent. Don't miss what will mark his first show in Toronto in over a decade. Kovvalsky (Jędrzej Kowalczyk) is a promoter, radio host, and artistic director/resident DJ at Warsaw's iconic Jasna 1, which is one of the most important clubs on the Polish scene. At Jasna 1, Kovvalsky has built a one of a kind club community with a stacked roster of resident DJs, including VTSS, Rene Wise, and Olivia. Alongside Pitti Schmitti, Kovvalsky runs KOD (Disco Defence Committee) a club night that offers a unique perspective within a scene saturated by generic techno. Together, Kovvalsky and Pitti also host "Jasna 1 Presents" at Newonce Radio, one of the most influential media platforms in Poland. Kovvalsky has performed internationally at Griessmuehle, Sameheads and //:about blank (Berlin), Ankali (Prague), Korner (Taipei), Lizdas (Lithuania) and Ballesta (Madrid). From disco classics to Italo experiments, from house to electro, a Kovvalsky set is always guaranteed to surprise. Toronto based DJ, promoter, Invisible City Editions team member, and most recently, Cafeteria programmer, Milch (Laura Schutte) is a fixture of the scene and a lover of all things off-kilter and left field. Her musical focus is an eclectic mix of wonky, wacky, and wavy Balearic synth oddities. Whether performing internationally at venues such as Sameheads (Berlin), Doka (Amsterdam), Post Bar (Helsinki), or at home in Toronto, Milch is always guaranteed to provide some of the most consistently creative mixes in the biz. Szaio is the anagrammatic alias of Toronto based production designer and musician Zosia Mackenzie. Whether through her work in feature film ("Dream Scenario" dir. Kris Borgli, "Infinity Pool" dir. Brandon Cronenberg, and most recently "Rumours" dir. Guy Maddin) or as a recording artist (her 2021 album "Obraz" was released to acclaim via Amsterdam's Bordello A Parigi) Mackenzie embodies a truly independent and intersectional artistic ethos. Expect genre fluid deep cuts from across the musical spectrum.
