Introducing House Of Baba, a fresh event series spotlighting SWANA Musicians and DJs, delivering cutting-edge sounds in the experimental dance scene encompassing everything from Acid, Techno, Electro, House, Wave, and whatever else.
This first event will be an all-Iranian lineup featuring a live set from Googoosh Dolls, DJ sets from Emsho, and the founder of House Of Baba, Teeyam.
❖ Googoosh Dolls (Live) ❖
Googoosh Dolls are the dance music alter egos of NY-based artists Ariyan Basu and Ramin Rahni, organizers of the annual technowruz series and members of art rock duo Tar Of. They write and perform microtonal SWANA-inspired techno”
❖ Emsho ❖
Emsho is an Iranian-born artist, currently based in NYC, who has been developing her musical career by drawing inspiration from the vibrant underground music landscapes of Brooklyn and Berlin.
Over the past decade, she has found her calling in collecting vinyls while frequenting the various haunts that make up the vibrant Brooklyn underground music landscape. Emsho's sound is characterized by its diversity and versatility, providing a dynamic listening experience that reflects her eclectic tastes.
❖ Teeyam ❖
Teeyam is an Iranian-American DJ and producer based in NYC—his sound traverses zones of techno/house, Acid, electro, breaks, wave, and brooding psychedelia. Drawing inspiration from his love of experimental cinema, soundbites and samples interweave with unhinged grooves, forging an uncanny sonic tapestry that explores the fringes of dance music.
He has DJ’d for over 15 years–cutting his teeth in San Francisco, where he grew to be a pivotal figure in the Bay Area scene. His multimedia cinema and dark dance party, “They’re Here” held residency at Underground SF and he curated Mutek San Francisco. In 2021, Mixmag ranked his contribution to the mix series, Pi Pi Pi, as one of the best mixes of the year calling it a “sweltering and devilish blend of sounds” and “fun as hell rave music”. In May 2024, Teeyam launched House of Baba, an event series spotlighting SWANA Musicians and DJs focusing on the more experimental dance side of the music spectrum.
Teeyam is one half of a new experimental dance music project with the prolific, John Barera. PHREAKERS is self described as “Sludge-induced gutter techno acid punk”. Their first EP “Trash Can” is out now on Left Hand Path and the tracks are already played by world class DJ’s around the world. Teeyam’s recent remix of Googoosh Dolls, “Peroseh” is out now and has received early support from DJ Three.
