Carl Craig is one of the most important and influential musicians to ever come out of Detroit. After learning his trade alongside the leading lights of the city’s electronic music scene he was instrumental in shaping the second wave of house and techno, drawing inspiration from soul and jazz and engaging with artists and scenes outside of the Detroit techno community.
He has recorded under many aliases – perhaps most famously under Paperclip People, Innerzone Orchestra and 69 – and many of his tracks are amongst the most revered productions ever released. He is also one of the most sought after remixers in the business, having re-imagined tracks by the likes of Theo Parrish, Rhythm & Sound, Junior Boys, and Hot Chip to widespread acclaim. As head of the Planet E imprint he has released music by the likes of Moodymann, Kevin Saunderson and Kenny Larkin. In recent years live shows alongside Moritz von Oswald and Francesco Tristano and a release on the legendary Deutsche Grammophon label have tested the boundaries of electronic and classical music, cementing his reputation as one of the most forward-thinking producers working in music today.
