  • ANORAAK'S UK ALBUM LAUNCH PARTY Free Entry for Students, Cheap entry for everyone else, and drinks @ £2.50 mean this is a Thursday at Corsica not to miss! French Revolution is back, bigger and better than ever, for its 4th year after spending the summer gallivanting around festivals wearing silly wellies and losing tents. After finishing off the pre-festival season with The Shoes in a sweaty and rammed Macbeth – FR is excited to announce its 23rd show, at Corsica Studios (which this year was voted Britain’s best small club). What better way to join Franco–Saxon arms than to bring the best of both camps together for a night of fun, frolics and electro. Anoraak: Just a few days away from his long-awaited debut album, "Wherever The Sun Sets", and while he’s certainly into laser-guided synth lines and sepia-toned nostalgia trips, Riviere’s longplayer as Anoraak is more indebted to Italio disco, Motown-schooled funk and sepia-toned pop music. Think: M83 on ecstasy. After all, it’s not like the French producer/singer/multi-instrumentalist picked up his first battery-powered keyboard yesterday. Riviere joined his old friends in Nantes (a city Time once called the most livable spot in all of Europe) and helped launch the Valerie collective/blog. He went on to do some awesome remixes, DJ round the world and create an amazing album to be released in October! Anoraak has played French Revolution once before as a DJ and we are looking forward to seeing the effortlessly cool man himself, this time playing his own incredible sounds! As Riviere puts it: “It’s a back-to-the-‘80s vibe that has no boundaries. If something’s cheesy, it’s cheesy. I have no problem with that, so long as it moves you.” Jupiter Jupiter are based in Paris. However, it was in London on an empty dance floor that the boy/girl duo met; their common passion for retro hits and glitter inspired them to create music halfway between "Thank God It's Friday" and "Purple Rain". They first gained attention following official remixes for Anoraak, Metronomy and Two Door Cinema Club. Their first two EPs, Stalrighter and Vox Populi got a lot of attention from the blogosphere and subsequently they featured on a number of releases by the French label Kitsuné, most recently "Kitsuné Maison 9". The band is currently working on their debut album. Wagner The warmth of pop, a dark path and the heat of a dance floor – here is Yan Wagner’s trinity, the young man who’s got a date with the night. Just back from New York where the Wagner project came to light in the nocturnal underground of Brooklyn. He is now working on his first record, due to be released post summer, whilst seeking more live thrills by taking over the stage alone in his own fierce and elegant way. Wagner’s “Recession Song” on Bonton’s Grab Bag n°2 is out a day before this show. Also worth noting are his many remixes including, Gumble & Burke’s “Let’s Go Together” (Kitsuné), Thieves Like Us’ “Never Known Love”, Minitel Rose’s “Wild Birds”, and Alizée’s “Les Collines”. Plus : Splash Wave & Jolie Cherie; and Resident DJs Footloose and longstanding French Revolution official DJ La Meche playing with their usual French swagger, dance floor fillers from hip-hop to house alongside a massive dollop of electro.
