That's right guys, already 2 years of good times at Down_Under! The weekend of 15 & 16 October is gonna be one to remember. Two massive parties to celebrate Down_Under's second birthday!
Over their 2 year reign they’ve wooed the natives with their innovative stance and made name as one of the best underground event productions in Belgium; parading an impressive selection of artists which include Matthias Tanzmann, Mathias Kaden, ...Martinez, Federico Molinari, Ray Okpara, Christian Burkhardt, Luna City Express,... The names speak for DU’s strong musical affluence, and so inspired by Belgium’s support, Down_Under surrendered to London, and there is a lot more to come...
We kick off the weekend on FRIDAY 15 October at The Camp in London with special guest tINI (desolat), one of the most rising artists in the electronic music scene at the moment. For the ones who can not make it to the London party, no worries! tINI will grace the decks at Silo in November, together with dj Wild (circo loco DC10), another down_under party to look forward to!
On SATURDAY 16 October we have most probably got the biggest line up ever seen at Down_Under, NICK CURLY (Cecille) and KEVIN GRIFFITHS will be our birthday headliners at Silo, supported by residents JITTER and DEZZ TERQUEZ.
NICK CURLY (Cecille, 8bit)
One of the most in-demand acts right now, Nick Curly can look back on an enthralling two year spell where his package of killer productions, red-hot record labels and captivating DJ sets have combined to make him one of the most talked about artists to arrive on to the underground scene.
This summer, he takes his career to a new level when he launches his DJ residency at Space Ibiza and provides one of the mixes in the latest instalment of the iconic ‘Cocoon Ibiza Summer’ compilation series, alongside Marco Carola.
As a creator of taste, Nick has taken his Cecille and Cecille Numbers labels into the stratosphere since their inception, delivering one dancefloor smash 12” after another and, in the process, helped launch the careers of acts such as Markus Fix, SIS, Robert Dietz and Alex Celler. More recently, his work together with partner Gorge on his ‘other’ label 8 Bit Records has consistently been hitting the highest heights and Nick now finds himself in the enviable position of having three of the top 20 charted labels on Resident Advisor’s esteemed DJ charts each month.
KEVIN GRIFFITHS (Tsuba)
Kevin’s label Tsuba is regarded as one of the world’s key players in underground house music and has an enviable and consistently growing fanbase amongst DJs, music fans and journalists alike. Tsuba is the second most charted UK label on RA and a common sight in the genre top 10’s of leading dance music download store, Beatport.
A DJ for more than 10 years, recent dates around the globe include Fabric in London, Watergate in Berlin, Lost Baggage in Sydney, Zouk in Singapore, Snatch in Miami, City Hall in Barcelona and Mandarine Crew in Mexico City.
As a producer, last year saw the release of second single, ‘Cantona Kung Fu’, reaching number 2 in the deep house chart on Beatport for one month and licensed to compilations by Steve Bug and Terry Lee Brown Junior. A collaboration with Okain, ‘Journey To Jah’ EP was released in November on the respected Four:Twenty imprint and was awarded Mixmag’s house single of the month.
Following the success of the ‘Oh Yeah’ EP in January 2010 (along with mixes from Julien Chaptal and Afrilounge) and remixes for Federico Molinari and Huxley, he recently signed a single to Fear Of Flying, with his good friend Justin Drake.
