  • November brings one of Glasgow’s favourite djs and producers back to the city for a long overdue return. Those of you who have been privileged to see Matt at various parties, including some infamous nights at the Unit, know what this man is capable of on three turntables. Matt Chester is the founder of 11th Hour Technology, and of the 11th Hour Recordings project. Deeply influenced by the melodies and soul of the Jazz, Blues and Funk he grew up with, as well as the Synth-pop of the 80’s and the electronic experiments of composers like Vangelis, he was totally blown away when first exposed to Detroit Techno, and has never looked back since. He began producing music in the late ‘90s, and set up the 11th Hour Technology project in 1999, as an attempt to bring together an increasingly polarised techno scene in the UK. Matt has remixed for artists such as Andrew Duke, Terrence Dixon, DJ 3000, Itokim & Rob Glennon to name a few. Matt is an exceptional DJ - heavily influenced by the fast paced, fluid & funk driven style of artists such as Claude Young and Jay Denham, he plays with a cut-up, energetic groove, showcasing a unique blend of deep Detroit techno & soulful electro. Joining Matt will be local talent, The Score. Raised on a diet of underground techno through the 90´s & heavily influenced by Slam’s night at the Arches and Pure at the Venue, Edinburgh, The Score has been dj’ing since ‘97. A vinyl junkie ever since, he packs plenty energy into mixes, staying true to the 2 & sometimes 3 turntable and mixer set up. Fresh from local gigs at Paisley’s infamous ’69’, we welcome him along to phonic.
