Warm / Phonica NYE with Mathew Jonson, Âme, Mark E

  • What a year. Before 2010 is out we will have brought you over 20 parties in London, treating you to aural delights from the likes of Carl Craig, Optimo, Steve Bug, and many, many more. This year has also seen us expand our reach beyond the capital with Warm parties in Bristol, Berlin, Paris and Helsinki. So if you’re not yet entirely sick to the back teeth of us we would like offer you one last night of splendour in the CAMP basement to see in 2011… Its been a big year for Phonica too. London's leading vinyl specialist and foremost electronic music shop, Phonica has just celebrated 7 years of business with a huge party in October with Henrik Schwarz, Four Tet and a special performance by Chicago legends Virgo. Phonica's label goes from strength to strength with its new Four Tet remix of African Drug and the 2010 launch of its Phonica White offshoot. We've also been continuing our residencies in Berlin & Barcelona. ****************************************************************** We are very excited to announce the final addition to our New Years Eve line up in the form of Mathew Jonson!!! Arguably the biggest star to emerge from Canada's techno scene since Richie Hawtin, Mathew Jonson has had a decade-long career in electronic music with a scope and depth rivalled by very few of his contemporaries. Enamoured with music from a very young age, he played drums in a marching band at aged 7, was experimenting with electronic music by aged 10, and even performed in front of school assemblies with classmate Nelly Furtado. A visit to the monolithic Vancouver World Fair in 1986 catapulted him into a world of computer-based generation and musical exploration. By his late teens he was performing regularly in and around Vancouver, becoming increasingly obsessed with live performance and outboard analogue equipment. His releases on Itiswhatitis Recordings, Perlon, M_nus, Kompakt, and of course his own Wagon Repair label, make up one of the most highly respected back catalogues in electronic music. It is a pleasure to have him on board with his awesome live set. ****************************************************************** Next up we have a very special live set from Âme. Kristian has been wowing crowds with his DJ sets all year (including our own Innervisions party at the CAMP back in May) and now it’s Frank’s turn to take you on a journey with his brand new live show. 2010 has so far seen a brand new 12’’ from the guys and before the year is out you can expect a brand new mix CD, their long awaited remix of Delia & Gavin on DFA and a dOP remix. Rumour has it that this live show has not yet failed to produce emotions of joy, wonder, disbelief, ecstasy, and even tears. Miss at your peril. ****************************************************************** David Moufang AKA Move D has always lived with his head in the stars. An early encounter with 2001: A Space Odyssey sent his young mind into overdrive and hours were spent building spacecraft and dreaming of the cosmos. Since discovering techno in 1989 he has applied the same sense of wide-eyed wonder to his work as a DJ and producer, crafting records with intricacy, style, and depth. Since his first releases with Jonas Grossmann as Deep Space Network in the early 1990s Move D has constantly explored the widest reaches of electronic music, releasing productions on labels such as Warp, leibe*detail, Smallville, Running Back and Workshop. Expect sincere grooves, organic beats, and deep rhythms. But most of all, expect the unexpected. ****************************************************************** Since his first release back in 2005 Mark E has established himself as an unassuming yet stylish producer and a DJ with unsurpassable taste. His pitched-down, dubbed-out edits of the likes of Janet Jackson and Womack & Womack earned early plaudits from Gilles Peterson, and he has since released records on some of the most highly respected imprints around, including Sonar Kollektiv, Running Back, and Golf Channel. 2010 has been another great year for Mark, with DJ sets around the globe, two retrospective compilations, and his own MERC label going from strength to strength. ****************************************************************** As co-owner of the much-loved Running Back label, music scribe for Germany’s Spex and Groove magazines, and invaluable dispenser of musical knowledge at the Red Bull Music Academy, Gerd Janson is a busy guy. He also finds the time to be a really, really great DJ, with his regular Liquid night at Frankfurt’s Robert Johnson club alongside Thomas Hammann (with whom he helmed a Robert Johnson mix CD this year) and a firm presence in clubs around the world. Gerd is the icing on the cake! ****************************************************************** One final adddition!!!! In the form of Mr. Tim Goldsworthy. Tim Goldsworthy is one of the unsung heroes of electronic dance music. In the early 1990s he co-founded the legendary Mo’Wax label with UNKLE’s James Lavelle. Mo Wax became one of the defining record labels of that decade, releasing lauded records by acts such as Air, Luke Vibert, Malcolm Catto, Innerzone Orchestra, DJ Shadow and DJ Krush. After leaving Mo’Wax and London behind he relocated to NYC where, alongside LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy, he proceeded to set up one of the defining labels of the next decade, DFA Records. Tim was closely involved with much of the label’s output, producing ground breaking LPs for LCD Soundsystem, Hercules & Love Affair and The Rapture. He’s now re-located to Bristol where he has been working in the studio with Massive Attack, The Detachments and Goldfrapp. ****************************************************************** Joining Âme (live), Move D, Mark E, and Gerd Janson will be the Warm Residents Ali Tillett & Rob Summerhayes. **** We will now be joining forces with Phonica who will be taking over the upstairs of The CAMP for the evening!!! Tickets will be available in the store from Monday November 29th onwards****
