For the 12Sundays leg of The Beatyard, its Optimo time again here at BT HQ, albeit only 1/2. JG Wilkes, or Jonnie to his mammy, is one half of the famed Optimo DJs from Glasgow, who ran their legendary Sunday weekly, Optimo (Espacio) from 1997 until April of this year. So named after the eponymous Liquid Liquid tune, the club was known for booking live acts only with the guys playing every week to packed crowds, with a wildly eclectic soundtrack playing everything from Detroit techno to the likes of 1812 Overture.
Longtime fans of theirs here in 12 HQ, they were the highlight of our trip to Stop Making Sense in Croatia where they played an unannounced set on the Sub Club Boat party. For more info & vids, check the event on Bodytonic Music.com
