- What better way to start a New Year than with a night of unrivalled underground dance music featuring two artists that would brighten up any year, far less a new one. The thought of Levon Vincent and dOP unleashing their idiosyncratic sounds inside one of London’s increasingly popular warehouse spaces is just what a HYBRIDLIFE showcase is all about. They’ll be ably supported by HYBRIDLIFE residents Alex Jones and Ste Roberts, who well and truly stole the show at our recent 12 hour X rave, with a four hour back to back set which started at 6am and had the deranged crowd chanting for more at 10am! From Les Rhythm Digitales remix of Mekon’s 1997 electro bomb Phatty’s Lunchbox to Octave One’s percussive techno diamond Blackwater, they displayed the pedigree behind their stellar labels Hypercolour and Glasstable. Levon Vincent comfortably ranked within the top 50 DJs of 2010 in RA’s annual poll. He’s blazed a trail over the past few years with stand out sets at notable clubs like Berghain and Fabric. His RA podcast from summer 2009 is a bonafide classic, and the sound he has pioneered as part of Jus Ed’s Underground Quality collective out of New York has added another important chapter to the rich musical heritage of the big apple. Number 3 in RA’s top live acts of 2010, dOP bring an unbridled rock&roll attitude to one of the most captivating live shows in electronic music.
