Picnic Nye with Eric Duncan & Lovefingers

  • After a year of awesomeness we at Picnic have decided to welcome in what looks like our best year yet (ie 2011) with the mother of all parties. Two of our favourites, one warehouse space and enough good times to take you forward for ten years! Come celebrate with us AND ERIC DUNCAN ... Eric Duncan aka Dr Dunks is a true new-era disco legend. He kick-started his career with pal Thomas Bullock (Map of Africa, The Laughing Light of Plenty) after meeting through a mutual friend working at Sarcastic clothing in LA. Random chance and coincidence soon found the two of them together on the other side of the continent, pumping beats into the heart of New York City's underground scene. A friend's acquisition of a Chinese Rub N Tug massage-palace-cum-loft-space sparked a series of raucous parties where rooms were torn down, both literally and figuratively, as 300-400 people shuffled to their wild disco mashups – and so Rub N Tug was born. As a duo they released a string of remixes, edits and DJ mixes including a superb mix CD in the Fabric series and remixes for LCD Soundsystem, Roxy Music, David Gilmour Girls, Zero7, !!! and even Coldplay. Flying solo, Eric started his own edits label, C.O.M.B.i., which has risen to become one of the most sought after top-shelf edits series’ in the recent wave of disco edits. DJ Harvey has declared Dr Dunks to be ‘pretty much the best editor on the planet today’ – strong words coming from the father of the edit culture revival. Since 2007 Eric has been producing with Liv Spencer (House of House) as DFA super-duo Still Going, responsible for one of 2009’s most spectacular party anthems Spaghetti Circus. They’ve emerged as one of the most in demand remixers around, lending their touch to tracks by Crazy P, The Presets, Doves, Bot’ox, Groove Armada and Force of Nature. LOVEFINGERS Andrew Hogge aka Lovefingers needs little introduction amongst the global disco elite, his world famous lovefingers.org has had a undeniable impact, on the burgeoning eclectic dance scene of today and has enabled him to bring his eccentric taste and unique DJ style on tours throughout the US, Europe, Asia, and Australia. A Los Angeles native, Andrew and collaborator Nitedog have been hosting the standalone monthly event Blackdisco Social Club since 2001 which have included guests like LCD Soundsystem, Prins Thomas, Rub'n'Tug and many more before heading off to New York where he resides today. Lovefingers and Nitedog, also founded the top notch disco re-edit label Blackdisco well know for its discerning tastes, Black Disco releases have found there way into the bags of top jocks like Harvey, James Murphy and their debut 12" was recognized as #2 in Phonica's Top 10 Disco of 2008 as well as Tim Sweeney's Best of 2008 Beats in Space. Lovefingers' left-field sensibilities have also led him into the art world including performances at PS1 MoMA's Summer Warm-Up, Doug Aitken's Sleepwalkers exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art, sculptor Eduardo Sarabia's Salon Aleman installation at the 2008 Whitney Biennial, avant-garde designer Henrik Vibskov and fashion icon Diane Pernet.
