One thing they’d probably all agree on, however, is that 25 years of the Motor City’s scene, from the producers to the DJs and everything in-between, is a cause for celebration. Which is good news for the forthcoming D25 event (its worthy of being termed an event rather than just another party, surely). Headlined by luminaries Carl Craig, Moodymann and Theo Parrish, some would suggest that anyone else on the bill is doing little more than killing time, however it can be argued that a little scene-setting never goes amiss when done with love and respect. That, and it means a few hours to get into the ‘groove’ before the masters showcase their unique takes on what Detroit music means to them.
