Horse Meat Disco: Jim Stanton, James Hillard, Severino & Filthy Luka

  • For our very first event of 2011 we recommence our monthly Plastic People residency by welcoming the one and only Horse Meat Disco crew to take you on a disco adventure the way only they know how! Since its humble beginnings Horse Meat Disco has become an institution on both sides of the sexual divide due in large part to its dedication and appreciation to Disco music in all its forms. The brainchild of James Hillard and Jim Stanton via the inspiration of New York nightlife legend Adam Goldstone (RIP) the idea was to create an alternative party that harped back to the halcyon days of parties like The Loft and The Gallery in New York whilst at the same time adapting it for a London crowd and always looking to the future. This formula proved successful from the start and led the club to take up its residency every Sunday in the most fantastic South London boozer; The Eagle London. Jim and James went on to enlist the help of two of London’s hardest working DJs, in the shape of Severino and Filthy Luka, and the club has gone from strength to strength. Sundays at the Eagle are the place to play for any DJ worth their salt – the night has attracted the likes of James Murphy, Tim Sweeney, Rub ‘n’ Tug, Daniel Wang, and Prins Thomas, to name but a very select few – and it is the go to night for any discerning Disco fan: a queer space for everyone. After all, the best parties have always been the ones where the crowd comes from all walks of life. In the last few years the Horse Meat Disco boys have toured the world and released two highly acclaimed mix CDs. So we’re very excited to be inviting all four of them to take over Plastic People once again for the evening!
