Since many years the multi-instrumentalist Ryan Francesconi works as a studio and live musician for the US new-folk epigone Joanna Newsom. He is also responsible for the strings arrangements on her albums. His current solo album for concert guitars Parables(Sweet Dreams) sounds as if Nick Drake had turned Bulgarian. Silence is the new noise!
James Blackshaw (UK)
The English autodidact James Blackshaw plays the traditional finger-picking style for the twelve-string guitar that was among others developed by Leo Kottke. He has released his paralysing compositions on Tompkins Square, Important Records and Bo Weavil as well as on Michael Gira’s label Young God. He accompanied Swans and Stephen O`Malleys Sunn O))) as a tour support. In 2010 he also toured as a member of the live band Current 93.
