As we move closer to Easter 2011 we can announce that Bedrock will return to the capital on its traditional Maundy Thursday date. John Digweed has once again curated a lineup featuring some of the finest artists currently in house and techno and to top it off Bedrock will be hosted for the very first time at one of London’s best kept secrets, the outstanding Arcadia.
Located in the heart of South East London’s thriving clubland and just minutes away from London Bridge, Arcadia holds similar traits to that of legendary London nightclubs such as Heaven, The Cross and The End. Recently refurbished, the impressive multi arched venue, combines exposed brickwork and a stark, warehouse-like interior with luxurious features. Add to this a state-of-the-art intelligent lighting, lasers and a ribcage rattling Nexo Geo sound system and you have the kind of intimate, underground venue that has been synonymous with Bedrock events over the last 12 years.
In the main room John Digweed will treat the Bedrock faithful to an extended five hour set and in a repeat of their outstanding Fabric show in December, will be joined by none other than Bedrock sensation Guy J. Guy will be launching his new album at Arcadia which is set for release on Bedrock Records in the coming weeks. Guy has been a Bedrock favourite for many years now, with an ability to combine ambient, techno and electronica, whilst constantly maintaining a melodic and highly emotive core. Expect a killer performance from the Israeli dance music juggernaut, especially if this recent mix of his is anything to go by!
In room 2 Bedrock will welcome a name that’s been gaining significant attention amongst underground circles of late; Jozif. 2010 was a great year for the London based DJ and producer with releases on Wolf + Lamb and Vitalik and an RA podcast that goes down as one of the most talked about to date. After he and Fabric’s Craig Richards launched Fist or Finger last year, a limited edition vinyl only label, the first release ‘Beats In Space’ became an instant sell out. Following a brilliant mix on John Digweed’s ‘Transitions’ radio show, Jozif’s success is set to continue in 2011 with his ‘Sunrise’ EP on InFine receiving rave reviews all round. Joining Jozif is the protégé to Jamie Jones and Lee Foss, Hot Creation’s Robert James. His recent tracks ‘Malibu’ and “Sleep Moods’ have been tearing up dance floors worldwide, whilst his latest productions as Pteradactil Disco with Jamie Jones, Lee Foss and FB Julian has received outstanding support. Picked by Pete Tong as the one to watch this year in Radio 1’s ‘In New Music We Trust’, his diary is ready to burst. We’re delighted to welcome Robert James to Bedrock and we’re sure he will set Arcadia alight.
Needing absolutely no introduction to the Bedrock faithful is Nick Muir. As John Digweed’s studio partner for many years, Nick’s skills as a producer has been responsible for some of the most defining moments in electronic music. Many of his tracks are already regarded as classics, not to mention his mind-blowing remixes of New Order, Underworld and The Orb. In a rare set away from the studio, we’re delighted to welcome Bedrock’s second son, the inimitable Nick Muir to headline Room Three. Alongside Nick Bedrock welcomes one of the finest DJs to emerge from Russia in recent years, Denis A. His signature tough and dark progressive house interweaves with rhythmic techno to create a defined, unique sound. His passion for vinyl means that he constantly pumps dance floors with clean and powerful vibrations. As the owner of the DAR label, the host of popular radio show “The Diamonds of Dance Music” and a welcome guest at clubs such as Ibiza’s Amnesia and Berlin’s Tresor, Denis A is definitely one to watch.
