Warm with Chateau Flight, I:cube, Joakim

  • We return to Plastic People for another one-off Warm special to celebrate the 15th anniversary of one of France's most iconic, idiosyncratic and valuable labels: Versatile. Joining us will be Chateau Flight - comprised of of label-head Gilb'r and Nicolas Chaix AKA I:Cube - in addition to Joakim, Versatile mainstay and Tigersushi boss. For one night only they will be taking over Plastic People for the entire evening!! Chateau Flight are two of the unsung heroes of electronic music. They have inspired a whole generation of artists with their unique production style. Through Versatile Records they have released influential underground music from artists such as Joakim, Pepe Bradock, Etienne Jaumet and Lil Tony in addition to their own expertly crafted productions. Shaped in 1997 in order to remix Pierre Henry, the dynamic duo from Paris went on to produce two albums, an original soundtrack recording for the French silent movie classic Les Vampires, various smash-hit singles like Cosmic Race or the Baroque EP for Innervisions, and more and more remixes (Theo Parrish, Stardust, Femi Kuti, Joakim, Juan McLean et al). Their sound is as versatile as the label that Gilb’r takes care of and as detailed as the productions I:Cube does on his own. Joakim Bouaziz has been at the centre of the Paris club scene for many years. He has also been intimately connected to Versatile from the very beginning, releasing many singles and all three of his LPs on the imprint. As head of the Tigersushi label he has released music by the likes of Maurice Fulton, ESG, Metro Area and Psychic TV and his remixes of the likes of Tiga, Air, Friendly Fires and Goldfrapp have received support from DJs and music lovers around the globe. His 2006 remix of Antena's Camino Del Sol remains one of the best reworks of recent years. As a musician he has a background in classical music, rock and jazz, with a depth of knowledge reflected in his wide-ranging DJ sets and eclectic productions.
