Warm with Rush Hour Recordings

  • Rush Hour Recordings take over Dalston Superstore for one night only! Tom Trago, Aardvarck and Cool Chris take over the decks all night long to celebrate both the label and the release of Tom Trago's brand new LP! ********************** Holland's answer to Hard Wax? Europe's answer to Submerge? From humble beginnings selling records out of a student apartment, to treks around the globe hunting down undiscovered gems, in the last 14 years Amsterdam's Rush Hour store and accompanying label have made a massive contribution to the promotion of artists from both their local scene and from further afield, simultaneously promoting young talent while building connections with House and Techno's old-guard. Late 1997 saw the opening of the recordstore and mailorder, which manifested the very beginning of the company. Initially importing many obscure records from around the world then later exporting similar Dutch records to overseas companies, the distribution wing had evolved by two years later, in 1999. This set up eventually led to the start of the label, which saw its first release just before the millennium. The past five years saw various releases, mostly 12”s, from artists all over the world in all different genres and directions. What they all seem to have in common is an electronic groove that is almost impossible to convey with words but has been, over time, coined ‘The Rush Hour flavour’. The last year has seen Rush Hour reissue Virgo's pantheon-residing Virgo LP, two highly sought-after 12s from Rick Wilhite, a long lost Ron Hardy release, mythical Mandre material, as well as giving a home to a stream of consistently essential releases from the likes of Tom Trago, Aardvarck, Cosmin TRG and Nebraska. At the end of last year they were crowned Resident Advisor's label of 2010, topping off a fantastic 2010 and setting them up for what is sure to be a great 2011! http://www.residentadvisor.net/feature.aspx?1266
