  • secretsundaze have been celebrating their 10th anniversary across the whole of summer 2011 with a string of sellout parties, a new 12" label and also their new double CD compilatiion "10 Years of secretsundaze" mixed by residents Giles Smith and James Priestley out just a few weeks ago. Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th August sees their 10th season celebrations peak in the form of 2 parties over 2 days at venues to be announced for the official 10th Birthday. This will be the first time secretsundaze have done a "weekender" so we are very excited at the prospect. Being the 10th birthday we are putting increased emphasis on production values across both parties so expect the usual high quality sound plus lots of other special touches that will make this a weekend to remember. Headlining Part 2 of the birthday weekend we have the artist known as Moodymann or Kenny Dixon Junior to his friends. After years of 12" releases Moodymann really made the biggest impression with his seminal LP "Introducing" on Carl Craig's Planet E. This album contained some of the most sublime deep grooves such as "Misled" and "In Loving Memory" alongside dancefloor favourites that are rinsed out today such as the huge "I Can't Kick This Feeling". He has continually produced the goods over his illustrious career with "Black Mahogany", "Tribute", "Freeki Mutha F cka " and more recently "It's Too Late 4 U and Me" all being bona fide classics. He of course has a high regard for the roots of black music though funk, soul, disco and the blues, often sampling but always putting an interesting, unique twist on things. Along with Theo Parish he is largely responsible for influencing producers to give their tracks that dusty, vintage, analogue feel. Separate from his music his outspoken nature combined with a general lack of a desire to do interviews and press make him one of the most fascinating characters in modern underground dance music. DJ wise we can't wait for him to do his thing. His sets often see him grabbing the mic and and telling anecdotes over his music and dropping a lot of the vintage music that has influenced his sound. Tickets for this have been on sale for some time and we really expect them to sell out in the next week or so. You have been warned! Ok so we are sure you'll agree that we have a veritable feast in store for you on the 10th birthday weekend and we really hope to see as many familiar faces as possible. We really have loved every minute of the last 10 years and can't wait to party on down with you all! Limited Edition CD Album + Ticket Pack available from: http://secretsundaze.bandcamp.com Hope to see you there, Love secretsundaze xx
