Prosthetic Pressings, Sleaze Records & Perc Trax present A Perc Trax & Prosthetic Showcase

  • PERC: From his earliest demos to his current position as a key figure in the global techno scene, Perc (aka Ali Wells) has taken the established forms of the music he loves and twisted them into something new and fresh. The key to Perc’s early recognition was the release of ‘Up’ on Kompakt. With its unmistakable relentless rising tone, ‘Up’ lodged itself in record boxes, including those of Richie Hawtin, Luciano, Chris Liebing, Misc, Slam, John Digweed, Green Velvet, Erol Alkan and Steve Lawler and inspiring a wave of imitations that continues to this day. Perc’s 2nd Kompakt release 'Headphone Heart’ showed his versatility, mixing industrial-strength percussion with a haunting flute melody, a combination that on paper should never work, but Perc pulled it off with style. To cement his techno credentials Perc’s ‘Sticklebrick’ EP on Adam Beyer’s Drumcode label made him the first non-Swedish artist to release on the label in 7 years and showed that he could produce to a standard equal to the world’s best. Building up successful relationships with Chris Liebing’s CLR imprint and Josh Wink’s Ovum whilst unleashing a strong run of releases on his own Perc Trax label has seen Perc’s influence and support grow even further. With each release his sonic experimentation has taken another leap forward without ever losing sight of the dancefloor. 2009’s ‘Throb’ on Ovum and ‘Submit’ on CLR brought Perc his first support from the key Berlin tastemakers and his 2010 releases including ‘BCG’ (Perc Trax) and ‘Wooden Art’ (Stroboscopic Artefacts) have made him a ‘must check’ artist for those with even a passing interest in techno that refuses to conform to preconceptions. On top of all of this is Perc’s own Perc Trax label, with over 50 vinyl and digital releases featuring a who’s who of modern techno including James Holden, Nathan Fake, Misc., Peter Van Hoesen, Norman Nodge, Gary Beck, Kyle Geiger, Avus, Mihalis Safras, Go Hiyama, Ripperton and many more. Constantly evolving without chasing trends, 2010 sees contributions to the Perc Trax catalogue from Forward Strategy Group, Milton Bradley, Donor & Truss, DVS1, Kevin Gorman, James T. Cotton, Jonas Kopp, Millie, Derek Plaslaiko and of course Perc himself. Perc is also in-demand remixer having been commissioned to remix a host of world-class names including Trentemoller, Danton Eeprom, James Holden, DJ Hell, Misc, Phil Kieran, Tony Rohr, Ed Rush, Gary Beck and many more. His most notorious re-rubs include his driving take on Holden's own 'First Light' and his reworking of DJ Hell's 'Buttersaure' that had the cream of Europe's techno scene salivating. As Perc’s profile grows his booking schedule has become busier and Perc’s travels have covered all of Europe plus tours of USA, Canada, Mexico, South Africa and 4 tours of Japan. Personal highlights for Perc are a back-to-back set with Oliver Ho in Tokyo, his debut at Tresor in early 2010, being part of the Drumcode tent at Dance Valley and playing on the same bill as Richie Hawtin and Speedy J at 2008’s Queen’s Day party at Melkweg, Amsterdam. Perc currently performs both as a DJ and a live act with each performance moving his vision of techno one step further forwards. GARY BECK: It was only a matter of time before one of Scotlands leading young techno producers burst onto the worldwide underground dance scene. His first release on Philladelphia's 'Worship Recordings' label in 2005 was only the beginning for this talanted artist, as In 2008, Richie Hawtin's 'Minus' signed the massive 'consumed', and Gary has never looked back. His deep but fresh quirky style is in demand from Glasgow, to Tokyo and all over Europe, and is well respected for the party atmosphere he creates. Gary can count on support from many of the biggest names in Techno, including Josh Wink, Dubfire, Chris Liebing, Len Faki, Slam & Richie Hawtin. His style can be heard on labels such as Soma, Edit Select, Minus, Figure and many more. He is always in high demand for remixes, and has recently remixed for artists such as Christian Smith, Audio Soul Project & Mark Broom. Gary is also working on new material for his own imprint 'Bek-Audio'. The first release on Bek001, 'Over to you' was immediately picked up by Hawtin & Dubfire to name but a few, and stormed into the Beatport techno chart top 10. HANS BOUFFMYHRE: Hans Bouffmyhre is a young man from paisley with a worrying obsession for techno music. Hans started off his career in 2006 when he began to promote his own party in Glasgow called 'Sleaze' where he booked and played alongside some of the worlds best techno acts including the likes of Andrew Weatherall, Funk D' Void, Chloe, Radio Slave, Johannes Heil, Extrawelt, Phil Keiran, Len Faki & Par Grindvik!" At the start of 2007, Hans started learning about music production and making his own tracks. He now boasts releases on many recognised labels including Perc Trax, Viva Music, Soma Records, Synewave, Harthouse, 8 Sided Dice, Autist, aswell as recently starting his own label Sleaze Records. So far Hans' tracks have gained huge support & plays from the likes of Richie Hawtin, Troy Pierce, Dubfire, Adam Beyer, Len Faki, Joris Voorn, Chris Liebing, Steve Lawler, Pete Tong, James Zabiela, Slam, Oliver Ho, Fergie, Ivan Smagghe, Gabriel Ananda, Mark Henning, Luca Bacchetti, Mihalis Safras, Perc, Xpansul, Anderson Noise, Cari Lekebusch, Mistress Barbara, Johnny D, Joeseph Capriati & Uto Karem!
