From a chance meeting in 1996, Freestylers duo Aston Harvey and Matt Cantor have transformed their shared obsession for music into a global party breakbeat phenomenon. With over 400,000 album sales under their belt, they have a reputation for being one of the most dynamic performers around.
These funky white boys have combined their eclectic musical tastes and created a seamless fusion of hip hop, dance hall, electro, soul, break beat and drum and bass.
Rockin’ the house is their specialty, having been slammin’ it down since the classic ‘B-Boy Stance’. Their album ‘Raw as F**k’ was a dizzying trip of bombastic breaks and featured the world wide smash hit ‘Push Up’. Their fourth studio album ‘Adventures in Freestyle’ confirms the boys’ musical genius, demonstrated in the brilliant track ‘Electrified’ and the five and a half minute filthy wonder of the Pendulum teamed ‘Painkiller’.
Always pushing boundaries while keeping loyal to the dancefloor, they have resisted trends and fashion in favour of doing their own thing. Their incessant need to do things differently saw them go global with their 13 piece band, winning over audiences worldwide with their spectacular live antics. At the beginning of the year they treated Field Day 2007 audiences to an amazing live performance, delivering an extraordinary mix of beats, live instrumentals and sweet vocals.
In June they are back on Australian shores, this time leaving the big band behind and doing what they do best; getting behind the decks and making people dance their f***ing arses off!
