Junk, with its forward-thinking musical policy, powerhouse of a soundsystem, meticulous attention to detail, enthusiasm and party-first, ask-questions-later ethos, have been blazing a trail over the past few years in the clubbing industry. Working closely with Cocoon, Moon Harbour, Circo Loco, Superfreq, Channel Zoo, Crosstown Rebels and Get Physical, and holding some of the best boat parties in the country, it’s now safe to say they are heavyweights of the UK clubbing fraternity.
Drawn together to the South Coast as if by magic 6 years ago for the infamous Junk Club project are the passionate collective behind the brand – known as the Junk family – comprising of DJs, producers, promoters, artists and graphic designers – all originating from flourishing and cosmopolitan areas of the UK including Bristol and London – with hints of Sicilian and Eastern European blood thrown in. What stands out most is the common and uncanny love for music and their shared dream – to put on the best parties in the world.
Junk Department 01 is the first in a series of warehouse parties they’ll be putting on for your partying pleasure in London 2011. Combining intriguing line ups and programming, passion for the rave, quality over quantity it’s a welcoming and healthy contribution to the City with the world’s greatest party scene.
April’s debut features an interesting amalgamation of beat bringers, starting with Chicago house don DJ Sneak making a rare London warehouse party appearance, bringing those rattling, funked up house bumps with him of course. Then there is the French DJ and producer Shonky, one of the Parisian house camp’s protagonists to blossom the most over the past few years with his energetic, intelligent and engaging DJ sets. Throw in the enigmatic rave ringleader Mr Tim Sheridan – who we think you’ll know from Veryverywrongindeed fame, master of the walking dead, Zombie Soundsystem promoter and resident Shane Watcha and the newest Junk resident, the rising talent that is deep and tech house DJ and producer Craig Torrance and this brew is ready and ripe for consuming. Expect debauchery and delight, hedonism and wrongness, pleasure and pain and all with an avant garde twist.
Because of your appetites for the full party feast there will of course be secret pre and after parties completing the menu, so you can now feast on as much Junk as you want, and not feel guilty, all you need to do is bring yourselves and anyone else.
