Dazed & Confused, the UK’s most forward-thinking independent magazine, is excited to announce its inaugural festival, taking place in east London. Dazed Live is the embodiment and natural evolution of the Dazed & Confused ‘State of Independence’ initiative - a temporary zone where today’s agenda-setters and provocateurs can stage a call to action for a new generation of innovators.
Spanning a weekend in April, this unique new festival will bring together an array of inspiring artists, thinkers and advocates from the Dazed cultural sphere. The new talent, cult icons and fresh ideas that feature in the magazine and its digital incarnations are here presented off the page for the ?rst time, offering exclusive insights and live experiences from the realms of art, ?lm, music, fashion, philosophy and politics.
By day, Dazed Live will present a programme featuring talks and exhibitions from digital pioneers, musical mavericks and art rebels. The Dazed Lab talks will showcase the digital and DIY pioneers re-imagining our future in art, design, activism and technology. The series of exhibitions includes the UK debut of ‘Postermat’ from Kathy Grayson’s gallery The Hole and a show from subversive London collective Bare Bones. Dazed Live has also partnered with Levi’s Craft of Music, which will give festival-goers the chance to see exclusive and intimate performances from artists such as Aidan Moffat, formerly of Arab Strap, who will be performing his uniquely witty solo material, with further Craft of Music performances to be announced soon.
Dazed Live by night ushers in a series of gigs and parties across the East End, showcasing some of the ?nest international live music acts and DJs, including a headline show from Gang Gang Dance at Village Underground on 9 April, with Factory Floor on the bill for Sunday night. Joining them is About Group, the latest project from Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip. Two of the UK’s most exciting promoters are taking over XOYO: Greco-Roman Soundsystem, who are presenting a DJ set from Caribou, and Scotland’s most in?uential club night Numbers featuring Actress.
