Subsonic & Shrug join forces to bring you one of the world’s brightest upcoming techno talents in Max Cooper (UK/Traum) on his first ever Australian tour. Supporting duties on the night are provided by Subsonic techno heads, label bosses and pirates of the techno seas; MSG & Marcotix, Sydney’s first lady of deep techno DJ Trinity, and Shrug’s beardo magnifico Dave Stuart.
In an era where we are overloaded with excessive promotions and mega hype it is refreshing to come across true artists that blur genres and melt minds. Max Cooper has been one of the standout artists that we’ve followed over the past few years. There is something about his rather unique blend of electronic & techno productions that captures and involves your emotional side. With a wealth of production experience and releases on over 20 labels over the last 10 years, Max has now developed into one of the world’s most interesting live electronic acts.
In his own words Max is inspired by his need to "match the emotions in the head with the emotion that can come out of the monitors". Bearing in mind that Max has studied and worked within the Genetic science field whilst learning and developing his musical abilities you can see that there is a strong bond between his two passions that affect each other to create a rather unique insight to Max’s psyche.
The key to each of Max’s productions, always, is emotion. "Anything can trigger an idea”, he says, "a film, light reflecting from a window, anything really. It’s all about bringing together influences and experiences which are individual to you, in order to create something original to you. I don’t believe in the magical creation of ideas out of nothing. And there are no magical chords which make all people feel exactly the same way ..."
