With The Haçienda’s March 2011 tour of Japan being postponed due to the recent earthquake which has affected the country, The Haçienda’s upcoming event at Sankeys this coming Good Friday has been made a very special “From Manchester To Japan With Love x” night which will see all proceeds from the evening donated to earthquake relief charities in the country. The headliners for our postponed Japanese tour, Basement Jaxx Djs Simon Ratcliffe & Felix Buxton make a rare appearance in Manchester on behalf of the Charities & Hacienda bringing their uniquely eclectic DJ set to “From Manchester To Japan With Love x ”. Alongside Basement Jaxx , Manchester’s breakthrough band of last year, Delphic make their first appearance with The Haçienda whilst along with some of the Haçienda’s original cast and crew returning for a for a musical reunion of the highest order following The Haçienda’s sold out Christmas party at the venue, Old friends of the family Justin Robertson and Jon Dasilva come back to the club for the night. Justin and Jon are regulars of many Haçienda nights including Hot, Shiva, Hallucienda, and Nude along with innumerable other appearances for the club, both at the original venue and for The Haçienda Tours whilst Rowetta will be performing a live PA during the evening. Playing a set of rare remixes and classics, New Order’s Peter Hook joins the bill along with The Temperance Club’s Dave Haslam, both bringing indie and dance “Sweet Sensation” flavours to The Haçienda event. 808 State DJs bring their oldschool spirit to the night and veteran Northern Scene DJ Herbie Saccani, Oli Furness and DJs from local Manchester club nights, Zutech and Micron round off the line up making the night a special Mancunian effort for the people of Japan Basement Jaxx, Felix Da Housecat and Peter Hook & The Light were all due to fly to Japan and were playing March 17th to 19th in Tokyo and Osaka and with the event being postponed until later in the year, The Haçienda decided to recast its Easter event in aid of the country. About “From Manchester To Japan With Love x”, Peter Hook commented that “whatever we can do to help Japan we will”, whilst Justin Robertson said “It’s fantastic to see so many great spontaneous gestures from the music community, from benefit gigs to compilation albums, doing what we can to help the brave and amazing people of Japan and I’m happy to be involved with The Hacienda’s event”. The Haçienda would like to thank all the artists for agreeing to be involved in the event and also Sankeys owner David Vincent for their time and generosity in arranging this.
