- Animals Dancing presents Detroit legend, Marcellus Pittman on the 10th of June at The Mercat Basement, Like many DJs and producers from the D, individuality and an avant-garde musical aesthetic are traits that seem to come naturally to Marcellus Pittman. A member of the 3 Chairs with Kenny Dixon Jr. (Moodymann), Rick Wilhite and Theo Parrish; One of Theo Parrish’s Rotating Assembly; part of the T.O.M Project with Theo Parrish and Omar S; and the man behind Unirhythm Records, Marcellus is praised for his raw and minimalist style that borrows from the early sounds of Chicago, but strips it bare; creating a groove and a feeling that few can replicate with machines. Having made it as a DJ in Detroit before releasing his own music, Marcellus is over qualified to take control of the basement, with support from Andee Frost and Otologic.
