We aim to bring the most exciting artists in electronic music to the best venues for an entire day and night of mayhem. The first party will take place at a brand new east London venue and will be the first ever event at this amazing new space. Set in a converted Tube station, combining indoor and outdoor dancing areas – and a custom Funktion One soundsystem – it’s set to become a landmark location on London’s club scene. Make sure you can say “I was there!” for this opening event. If that weren’t reason enough, we've booked the legendary Radio Slave, the new queen of techno (and Rekids label-mate) Nina Kraviz and deep house wunderkind jozif to rock you through the night. Daytime grooves will be provided by deep disco dons Mighty Mouse, Cage & Aviary and Nomi Ruiz from Hercules And Love Affair/Jessica 6. To help celebrate Mixmag's first Day And Night party, Kopparberg are kindly giving us hundreds of bottles of their world-renowned Kopparberg cider. It's the planet's best-selling pear cider for a reason, and will be the perfect accompaniment to the daytime disco and sunshine! Free drinks start when we open at midday, so arrive early. Once it’s quaffed, it’s quaffed! ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ARTIST PROFILES Radio Slave (Rekids/Panorama Bar) A true pioneer and one of the most sought-after techno producers of the age, Radio Slave’s remix work includes artists as varied and hallowed as Talking Heads, Danny Tenaglia, Carl Craig, Trentemøller, DJ Hell, Tiefschwarz and even Sir Elton John! He currently holds a quarterly residency at Panorama Bar in Berlin – which showcases the best new talent from his Rekids record label – and tirelessly DJs around the globe, headlining the world's biggest clubs and wowing dancefloors with his technical ability and awesome track selection. Prepare to be blown away. Nina Kraviz (Rekids) Former trainee dentist, journalist and part-time model, Nina Kraviz is a DJ and producer who is taking the house and techno world by storm. Tipped as one of the new 'Queens of the Underground' in the May issue of Mixmag, the Russian-born star first created a stir in 2009 with ‘Pain In The Ass’, a record that featured Blade Runner-inspired spoken vocals. Two years on and this autumn she will be releasing her debut album on Rekids. Moving from Siberia to Moscow in 1999, Kraviz hosted a weekly night at Propaganda (one of Moscow’s first clubs) where she developed her own distinctive style of mixing and making tunes. Expect melodic house and techno from this extraordinary breakthrough talent. jozif (Wolf+Lamb/Fist Or Finger) One of the most exciting artists of the electronic disco and deep house scenes, jozif's soulful productions have ensured him a steady rise to prominence over the last few years. Solid basslines, dramatic strings and melancholy chords all feature in his signature sound. It's a combination that has seen him snapped up by such labels as Wolf+Lamb, Infiné and Mobilee. The London-based producer also runs the vinyl-only Fist Or Finger label with fabric resident Craig Richards, whom he met through mutual friend Andrew Weatherall. As a DJ, jozif is on the books of Damian Lazurus' Rebel agency, alongside a roster that includes Jamie Jones and Seth Troxler. Expect big things of this boy on May 1 – and for the rest of the decade. Nomi Ruiz (Hercules And Love Affair/Jessica 6) Nomi Ruiz lent her vocals (and distinctive glamour) to New York disco ambassadors Hercules And Love Affair. While touring with the hugely acclaimed act she met the guys with whom she would go on to form her new band, Jesicca 6. In a short amount of time, their sleazy, synth-disco sound has already won legions of fans from the US to London, Europe and Russia. May 1 will see vamped-up Nomi strutting behind our decks in bloodstained stilettos, playing an array of sultry disco and paradise garage. Extravagant and extrovert, the Jessica 6 frontwoman truly embodies the spirit of NYC disco and is guaranteed to set the party off with a bang. Mighty Mouse (Disco Circus) Mighty Mouse are a three-piece band based in Manchester and London that specialise in cutting-edge electronic disco grooves. As DJs, they have released two volumes of their 'Disco Circus' mix CDs, both of which made it into Mixmag’s top 10 compilations of the year. Their remixes of acts including Gorillaz, The Aikiu and Shy Child receive regular support from the likes of Rob da Bank and Andrew Weatherall. Expect their full artist album later this year – and a good times DJ set in the bank holiday sunshine at Mixmag: Day And Night. Cage & Aviary (DFA/Internasjonal) London-based duo Cage & Aviary made a splash when their punk disco masterpiece ‘Television Train’ was snapped up by James Murphy’s Death From Abroad label. Much remix and production work followed, their quirky, deep electronic stylings gaining support from the likes of Prins Thomas, Andy Blake, Tiga and Erol Alkan. Jamie and Nigel also run their own acclaimed label, The Walls Have Ears, but have chosen to release their highly anticipated debut long-player on Prins Thomas’ Internasjonal in early June. Expect some deep, throbbing goodness behind the decks at this party. Upstairs bar: Public House The upstairs bar area will be hosted by one of London's best underground parties, Public House. Choosing a different secret location every month, those in the know have got down and dirty in sweaty basements, derelict courtyards, below noodle bars and even in a Caribbean restaurant's back room. Joining the dots between cutting edge house and techno, the Public House DJs are amongst the best in the business. Keep an eye on this page or www.mixmag.net for news and updates. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
