3 Years Of Lo*kee

  • Ladies and gentlemen, kids and dogs: lo*kee is gonna be three years old at the end of this month, and we intend to celebrate it with a bang on May 1st. We'll be going back to Crucifix Lane again for this one. The place has a lot of good memories for us that stretch back to our very beginnings. Back in early September of 2008 we had our first date with the club under the arches, and invited the Bar25 circus to town, we were just a few months old then and it now seems like a lifetime ago. We've been back on many an occasion, seen plenty of great acts there and still have some lovely surprises for later in the year but for now it's all about the the 1st of May. We're gonna be three so it's only fitting that we have a guest for each year we've been knocking about the back alleys, basements. lofts and living rooms of the Eastend, and we'll be bringing them in from all directions this time. From Detroit, now living in LA, California: Kenny Larkin, the man doesn’t need much of an introduction. Also known as Dark Comedy, Pod or Yennek, he’s been one of the key figures in (Detroit) techno since 1990. After countless classic releases on Plus 8, Transmat, Warp, R&S, KMS, Rush Hour and Peacefrog, he has showed the world with his 2008 album on Planet E as well as recent remixes for Shlomi Aber and Ben Klock that his production is fresher than ever. An absolute favorite of the lo*kee team and we are super happy and excited to have him grace our decks for our anniversary! 2nd on the list, from the Netherlands, ladies and gents: Olene Kadar. Also known as Henk van Zwol from Oldeholtwolde, an intriguing personality with a remarkable sense for music and hairstyle. On the scene since 2007, the young Dutchman is one of the most exciting live acts around. He’s decidedly hard working, sweating and paddling during his performances, which has granted him a deodorant sponsorship that cannot be named. Probably best known for his 2010 summer hit “Baby Keep It Up” this man has only just started. We’re big fans and can’t wait for his anniversary set! And last but by no means least, our third guest for our magic number 3, from Frankfurt/ Offenbach: number one DJ Meat. A man of many qualities and well known to London clubbers, he certainly knows how to work the dancefloor. If he’s not DJing or making hit records for Get Physical, Kindisch or Klang, he can be found at his store Freebase, Frankfurt’s first address for vinyl and sneakers since 1994. Long planned and postponed a few times, we're looking forward to finally have him play at our anniversary! We're really looking forward to this one....last years birthday bash went down a treat and we're hoping to do the same again, so get your birthday suits out, silly hats and streamers are a must...we'll bring the jelly and ice cream, party games galore and lots of pass the parcel, so all being well, we will be in for a night to try and remember ;-) See you there.
