To celebrate Resident Advisor's 10th anniversary, we've cooked up something rather epic: a series of ten parties in ten cities around the world, each with a secret headliner.
We take it the ten parties in ten cities thing is pretty easy to understand, so here's the deal with the secret headliners: each event will feature one carefully selected artist who we think has positively influenced the electronic music landscape over the past decade. Their identities will remain strictly under wraps until they take the stage. Up to that point, each one will be known simply as the X (see what we did there?).
For the second-to-last stop on our jaunt around the globe, we're thrilled to land at one of Europe's most infamous nightclubs: <a href=/club-detail.aspx?id=5031>Berghain/Panorama Bar</a>. We'll be taking over upstairs for a house-heavy bash that's sure to run until sometime around lunch. Aside from the X, who, as you probably know by now, will remain nameless until that night, <a href=dj-page.aspx?id=2>Danny Howells</a>—virtuoso DJ, former resident at Twilo and Home, and all around pillar of club culture—will be putting in an appearance. Joining him is one of Hamburg's finest, <a href=/dj-page.aspx?id=1665>Solomun</a>, the deep house head of Diynamic Music, and the man behind one of the most lauded remixes of last year, <a href=/dj/jefk>Jef K</a>. Mild Pitch duo <a href=/dj-page.aspx?id=9408>Ribn</a> provide the night's live set.
The Berlin poster has been created by one of the most influential names in modern graphic design, <a href=http://www.thedesignersrepublic.com/>The Designers Republic</a>. A visual presence in electronic music for decades, tDR created such iconic images as the sleeve design for Aphex Twin's <I>Windowlicker</I> (not to mention all of <a href=http://www.discogs.com/artist/Designers+Republic,+The#v=big&t=Credits_All>these</a>.) The screen-printed poster will be available in a limited run of 75 exclusively through RA. <span class=grey>Note: Buying a poster doesn't include entry to the event.</span>
Zehn Jahre Resident Advisor, die Internetplattform für alle Partynerds, Clubkultur-Turteltäubchen, Discogs-Referendare und sonstige Tagediebe. Das Konzept ihrer weltweit ausgetragenen Feierlichkeiten ist so einfach wie bestechend: ein geheim gehaltener Künstler, nennen wie ihn X, stellt das jeweilige Line Up zusammen und lüftet seine Identität erst mit seinem eigenen Auftritt in der jeweiligen Nacht. Das gibt natürlich ordentlich Salz in die Suppe und lässt im Vorfeld die Gerüchte wild ins Kraut schießen. Unser Mr. oder Mrs. X hat zumindest einen guten Geschmack bewiesen: mit Danny Howells gibt es eine hierzulande immer noch selten zu hörendn (zuletzt im letzten Jahr bei Cassys Geburtstag) Spitzenkraft des internationalen DJ-Circels zu hören, der sich in den vergangenen 20 Jahren das Image eines „Clubbers DJ“ erarbeitet hat. Außerdem: der große Patron der Pariser Deephouse-Szene Jef K, Hamburgs finest Solumun sowie einer der raren Live-Acts von Ribn (alias Manuel Tur und Max Heesen), die heute ihre tolle Musik von Labels wie Mild Pitch, Styrax Leaves, Mule und Millions Of Moments mit ihrem halben Studioequipment reproduzieren.
