The closing of the open-air season in the electronic music scene will take place in Hesse as it did last year. Thousands of visitors celebrated the opening of the awake Summer Break 2010 in the Maaraue in Wiesbaden.
Many enjoyed the last rays of sunshine from the open sky to the sounds of Paul Kalkbrenner, Anthony Rother, Henrik Schwarz, Oliver Koletzki feat. Fran and many more. Artists looked back at the festival of the year, commenting on the familiar atmosphere and highlighting the great audience who gave the festival a unique ambience.
This year the event is moving from Wiesbaden to a town which has been shaping electronic music for years and is therefore the perfect place for an open-air closing event: Frankfurt am Main!
The come-together of special sorts will be held at the Frankfurt Stadionbad on 18th September 2011. This wonderful open-air pool, located right next to the Commerzbank-Arena, has all the character of a park, making it the perfect location, e.a. with it's well-kept grass, the 20s buildings as well as the options to cool off and the view to the Frankfurt Arena turns this location into a magical place.
There are plenty parking options all around the area, which will ensure your arrival and departure go as smooth as possible.
The line-up as our location is second to none and, as in 2010, will be made up of our favourite acts from the last 12 months. As opposed to just resorting to the usual suspects of the local festival season, the name AWAKE has always represented modernity, freshness, innovation and openess. Electronic music has many faces and just as many artists with great potential- just like their sounds, which we appreciate and love. Some acts will be playing in Frankfurt for the first time, while for others it will be the first time being at a festival in our region. However, they all have one thing in common; every artist has their own, distinctive musical style. We look forward to celebrate with you the following artists: Jamie XX (The XX), Fritz Kalkbrenner live, Anthony Rother live, Tiefschwarz, Wolfram feat. Andrew Butler aka Hercules and Love Affair live, Lexy, Oliver Koletzki feat. Fran live, Michael Mayer, Heidi, Maya Jane Coles, Art Department, Steffi, Dirty Doering, Peter Eilmes, Sebastian Lutz and Franksen.
