Piknic Électronik 2011 - Day 12

  • On May 22nd will commence the summer celebration that will unite the Piknic Électronik to its audience for yet one more blissful season. As a celebration of their time together (9 years of common-law living!), these hedonist soul mates are invited to visit the place de L’Homme in parc Jean-Drapeau, from May 22nd to September 25th, for a unique and bold weekly event. This will be the ideal opportunity to renew their vows of love to an eclectic soundtrack of a wide-ranging electronic music. Something old, new, borrowed and blue! Following tradition, this season the organizers have prepared a joyous procession worthy of a royal wedding: something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue! There are those whose names are well established: Dubfire (U.S.), Ian Pooley (DE), Terry Lee Brown Jr. (DE), Misstress Barbara (CA), Fred Everything (CA) Sébastien Léger (FR) and Dominik Eulberg (DE). Then, of course, the new: Julio Bashmore (GB - first Canadian tour), Luke Abbott (GB - First North American live), Max Cooper (GB - Canadian premiere), Untold (GB - Montreal premiere) and Maceo Plex (ES - first live performance in Montreal – a rarity). Then to fully deliver the best of what the local scene has to offer (the borrowed), there will be a second stage presented by hosts GURU Energy Drink that will feature, among others, Recife, Footprintz, Simon Called Peter, LOL Boys, Famelik and Math Rosen. In addition, for the first time this year, three Piknic events will be entirely devoted to local artists, all under a beautiful blue sky! Idyllic scenery In order to see all and be seen, what is better than a prime spot at the front? To the Amarula Oasis and its icy fruit juices, we’ve added the Mojo Terrace and STM Green Station, where our guests can enjoy a refreshing moment without missing a single moment of the nuptial celebration. Create a ripple effect Piknic Électronik’s commitment to sustainable development remains as strong within its organization as it is on the field. Target 2011: convincing everybody to joins us in this dance! Whether it’s the Défi-Climat campaign, our social-reintegration programs with organizations such as Paradox and Social Development Society of Ville-Marie, blog posts on eco-responsibility, the opportunity to invest in an ecological project when purchasing your season pass, the incentive to recycle water bottles or even the inauguration of the STM Green Station, you will discover a multitude of new initiatives that complement the many existing ones that aim to educate piknicers about the challenge of the decade! What’s a celebration without gifts? The cost of admission to Piknic Électronik is now $10 + tax & services ($12 all included). However, the fairy godmothers and godfathers have not forgotten the piknicers. Hence, this special price for students passes: $45 (+ tax and service charge) while the regular pass remains at the same price as it was in 2010: $65 (+ tax and service charge). Note that the passes do not include access to Piknic @ Osheaga but that a special offer is given when purchasing both passes together. The Piknic pass and Piknic+Osheaga combo pass are available on Ticketpro and La Vitrine Culturelle websites. …And they had many children! In addition to a second edition of Piknic Électronik in Stanley Park in Vancouver on June 24, several other Piknic Électronik projects are happening outside the borders of Montreal this year. Starting in July, on several Sundays, electronic performances will converge in Gatineau at the gardens of the Musée de la Civilisation. We're also creating the Barcelona Piknic Électronik, which will present its first edition from August 28th to October 2nd at the Montjuïc, a beautiful park in the heart of the Catalan city! All details will follow in the coming weeks. The vows Thank you to our partners, without whom this event would not be possible!
