Krankbrother Roofparty with Heidi & Lee Curtiss

  • After the huge success of our summer roof party in July, we will be celebrating our 2nd birthday with an even bigger and better roof party on August 20th. The rooftop is an unbelievable space, with incredible 360 views of London - it's the only one of it's kind in the city + took us a long time to find! We are keeping the location top secret due to licensing restrictions - but we will be announcing the venue address the day before the event. There will be music ALL DAY on both the rooftop, and a venue downstairs within the same building. The rooftop will finish at 9pm, and the after-party will then take place downstairs. This promises to be one of the parties of the summer - and there are very limited tickets available - so snap yours up pronto. A ticket gives you entry to both the roof party and the after party! The sound will be put together by Sound Services. There will be a BBQ, Pimms and Cocktails running all day on the roof, and the same downstairs. Joining us in our celebrations will be two of our favourite artists from two of our favourite labels. First up we have Crosstown Rebel's Lee Curtiss who'll be warming up the party with his trademark deep and sexy sound. And following him we're joined by Get Physical's Heidi who'll be spinning everything from bass jackin' house to banging techno. If you haven't seen her before expect a heap of energy, a shock of blonde hair and a totally infectious style. Support with be offered by the residents and promoters, the krankbrothers, who'll be hitting up a proper party vibe to celebrate 2 years of good times. The Creche resident and Hot Creator Alexis Raphael will also be playing a 3 hour set at the party. And so to the acts in more detail: Heidi Growing up in Windsor, Ontario Canada, just across the border from Detroit, Heidi had a childhood filled with the sounds of classic rock, blues and folk. It wasn’t long, though, before the sounds of the Motor City and Chicago led her to a deep and lifelong passion for underground dance music. A move to London in 2000 to immerse herself in the music scene led to a job working at the now defunct Koobla Records, and in 2003 Heidi was part of the team that opened up London’s foremost record shop, Phonica. Through her work there she gained invaluable experience of the scene and underground culture, and began helping put together sets for many of the country’s top DJs. This soon led her from vinyl fanatic to budding DJ, of which the wildly successful Get Physical label took note in 2004, making her a unique staple for the label in Berlin. Throughout the last few years Heidi has played the world’s best clubs including Fabric, Panoramabar, Womb, Space Ibiza, with residencies at Watergate and Monz and her reputation has continued to grow... In 2008, her impeccable tune selection combined with a charismatic and energetic personality landed her a monthly slot on the BBC’s ‘In New DJ’s We Trust’ on Radio 1, where she interviews her favorite artists, and generally exhibits her passion for music ranging from underground house and techno to disco. Recently she has also started her own night called "Jackathon", putting together some killer lineups to tour across the world with her. The next step for Jackathon is a compilation featuring some of the biggest, best and freshest names in house and techno. It's due for release in July so keep your ears out for that! Looking ahead, Heidi's profile continues to soar as audiences around the world fall for her energy behind the decks and her infectious, fun style of DJing. We certainly did when we first saw her take to the decks last year in Greece and we're damn excited to have her celebrating our birthday with us! Lee Curtiss Over the last two years one of Crosstown Rebel's main men Lee Curtiss has made a name for himself creating primal, exquisitely deep and emotional dance tracks that pulse with life, sex, and humour, incorporating countless influences and genres but beholden to none. With his broad shoulders, even wider grin and keen sense of humour, Lee may give off the straight-shooting air of a Midwestern woodsman, but he’s got the ear, plain and simple. Lee Curtiss is an eccentric, an original, an innovator, and a ten-year veteran of the electronic-music scene. His love of his craft shines through in his tracks’ every bump and shudder. Lee grew up in Western Michigan and eventually moved to Detroit displaying an immediate knack and passion for dance music that translated his love of Prince, Quincy Jones, and good old underground disco into a production and DJ style noted for its sensuality and effortlessness. Recently back in Detroit after an extended stay in Berlin Lee continues to produce vital releases and remixes on labels including Spectral Sound, Get Physical, Dumb-Unit, Wolf+Lamb, Esperanza, and Mothership. More recently alongside best friends Ryan Crosson, Shaun Reeves and Seth Troxler he has helped put a warm, esoteric spin on the city’s musical heritage taking it away from clinical minimalism, back towards warmer, more spiritual party music. Together they have formed Visionquest, a genre-busting four-piece DJ combo, live act, record label and forward-thinking school of thought. Lee’s previous trans-Atlantic tours have seen him play at some of Europe’s most important clubbing institutions including, Fabric in London, Watergate in Berlin, The Rex Club in Paris, City Fox in Zurich, and now London's krankbrother... ALEXIS RAPHAEL ‘Spaceship’, Alexis’ first track, was quickly signed up by Jamie Jones and Lee Foss to their new Hot Waves label and hit the deep house top 10 on Beatport , gaining him wide acclaim. His glass-eyed voyage through ‘a neon painted universe’ gave our first glimpse into his ability to produce pieces of music with a real sense of individuality and style. Alexis followed up Spaceship with ‘Kitchens and Bedrooms’, with remixes from Lee Foss, Richy Ahmed & Volante, Sam Russo, as well as his own deeper ‘Sunset’ mix. Later in the year he is set to release a Hot Creations EP, something that only a handful of artists have had the opportunity to do and with so little relative experience in the studio it’s clear that the music he is producing is making waves with the right people very fast.
