HIGHLIFE ALL NIGHT BEACH PARTY OFF SONAR - FREE ENTRY
Highlife makes it's European debut for an off-Sonar party on the amazing El Prat Beach, just 15 mins south of Barcelona. The venue has hosted Minus, bPitch Control and Hyperdub parties in recent years with the likes of Richie Hawtin, Ellen Allien and Flying Lotus smashing it. This year, Highlife and the Huntleys and Palmers crew take centre stage with a quality line up of residents, label artists, special guests and others who have to remain secret but who will blow you away.
Based in Glasgow, Highlife is run by Huntleys and Palmers Audio club with the mission to explore new musical genres from around the globe. Over the past year we've hosted Shackleton Live, a UK debut for Mexican Rebolledo (Comeme), Mim Suleiman from Tanzania, UK Funky from T. Williams, jackin' house from Capracara (DFA / Soul Jazz), exclusive live afro-futurism from Bamboo Palace (LuckyMe) and South African house from Esa Williams (Rememory / Sub Club).
With his second release due to drop any day now, Auntie Flo is one to watch in year ahead - with his records being played from the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Andrew Weatherall and Caribou, to Ramadanman, Joy Orbison and Jackmaster. Alejandro Paz is set to follow in his footsteps with his almighty 'Callejero' release out later on H&P this summer. SOPHIE's live set will be an interesting spectacle to behold, his remix of Auntie Flo's Highlife is rapturous!
Glasgow's favourite son, Alex Smoke headlines. His productions have been consistantly original and innovative since we first heard his Incommunicado album on Soma many years ago. His Lux album from last year nodded at a different musical direction taking in influences from UK bass old and new and both his live and DJ sets continue to cause dancefloor damage worldwide on a weekly basis.
