  • IMPORTANT INFO : Correct Address is Fairchild Carpark Plough Yard/Hearne Street EC2A 3EN (the road to venue is the first left off bishopsgate road heading away from Shoreditch, near the drunken monkey) SOCIETY presents: MARSHALL JEFFERSON Andy Blake (World Unknown/Dissident) Dan Beaumont (Jam Factory) Class of 808 DJ's World-renowned DJ, producer and Chicago House pioneer touches down to headline an Acid House all-night warehouse party in east London this summer. Friday 1st July. Secret Shoreditch warehouse location to be revealed at http://societywarehouse.com or email [email protected] After the storming success of the last SOCIETY Acid Warehouse party, we're back with Chicago House pioneer and legend - MARSHALL JEFFERSON - playing a one-off, 2 hour set of Chicago/Acid House classics. It really doesn't get much more influential than Marshall Jefferson. Only a few people on this planet have been offered the title 'Godfather of House', and one stands out from the crowd as being the man that defined house music as we know it today. His name is Marshall Jefferson. In 1986 he played piano on a house record for the first time ever - the track was called "Move Your Body" and it single-handedly redefined dance music forever. Jefferson's productions include Phuture's Acid Trax (widely regarded as the first Acid House track due to its use of the Roland TB-303), Ce Ce Rogers' Someday and tracks under the aliases Jungle Wonz, Hercules and Virgo. On the decks Jefferson is no less prolific, and the Godfather himself will be digging deep to play a rare two hour Chicago/Acid House set at the second SOCIETY. Joining Marshall on the night will be founder of Dissident Recordings as well as promoter and DJ at World Unknown in Brixton, ANDY BLAKE is often cited as the DJ for music geeks. Whilst we agree, his talent is much bigger than this; Andy is a DJ for all party heads and one of those DJs who really brings the energy; somehow making a 25 year old record sound even fresher than fresh. For this month’s SOCIETY, expect a musical journey from Chicago by way of Manchester, Detroit and London; hidden gems, classic sounds and forgotten beats to move your feet. DAN BEAUMONT is one half of Jam Factory and proprietor of gay dance bar Dalston Superstore. In a previous life Dan was a founding member of the Disco Bloodbath collective, tearing up dance-floors around the world. We are very excited to have Dan joining us to dig through a set of underground Chicago and Acid House. A delight for your earballs and the perfect accompaniment to both Marshall Jefferson and Andy Blake. But it goes much further than just the music - SOCIETY strives to recreate events that hark straight back to 1989 by using installations and artwork from the most exciting era of UK dance music as well as projections from the late eighties, booming Funktion One sound, smoke, lasers and original artwork influenced by the likes of Keith Haring, Bill Drummond and the YBAs. Email [email protected] or go to http://societywarehouse.com/ for details about the event.
