After the stunning success of last year’s edition of Audioriver, it is highly likely that the press release you’re about to read is nothing more than a superfluity. Last year, the festival drew a stunning turn out of more than 20 thousand fans of underground dance music, all of whom went home with nothing but positive memories. Despite the fact that the organizors of the festival have done their utmost to ensure that the event is a must even for those who hear about it for the very first time this year, in the end, it will be the opinions of all the festival goers from last year that will serve as the best possible recomendation to come to Plock on the 3rd and 4th of August.
Regardless of the amount of praise the first festival’s line up received, chances are that the performances slated to take place on three scenes on the 3rd and 4th of August will receive even more. A number of legendary groups and figures who have had, and continue to have, an enormous influence on the shape and sound of contemporary electronic music have been booked to perform.
Where would drum & bass be without Fabio and Grooverider, who have agreed to do a special performance together at Audioriver? What would techno and minimal sound like if it wasn’t for Pascal FEOS, who has inspired legions of DJs and producers in the span of his 23 years on the scene? Would Sasha have been as successful if Charlie May hadn’t helped him out in the studio while producing ‘Xpander’ and ‘Airdrawndagger’? Charlie is one half of the duet Spooky, which undoubtedly was one of the precursors of the progressive sound in the early ninties. And finally, would breakbeat have merged with progressive if it hadn’t been for Hybrid’s breathtaking fusion of electronic and symphonic music? Audioriver will truly be a unique oppurtunity to see Mike Truman and Chris Healings accompanied by no less than eight musicians on stage.
Add to that X-Press 2, the guys behind the timeless classics ‘Lazy’ and ‘Smoke Machine’, Infusion, without a doubt one of the most explosive and compelling live acts in the world, and the brilliant drum & bass producer TC, who will perform in the company of six other artists. And if that wasn’t enough, the organizors of the festival also decided to invite Oliver Huntemann and Martinez, both of whom confirmed their talent this year with the fantastic compilations ‘Play 01!’ and ‘Restructured Layers’.
Artists from across the pond will also make their way to P³ock this year. Matthew Dear, also known as Audion, from the USA will come to Poland with his 3 man band, and will not only perform as a producer, but also as a vocalist! Moreover, Mexico will be represented by one of the brightest young stars of the techno scene, lineasdenazca.
But that’s all... 2 of our most famous countrymen have also been invited to play on the picturesque beach along the Vistula River, namely, Robert Babicz and Jacek Sienkiewicz, as has the Berlin-based Canadian Jake Farley aka Fairmont of ‘Gazebo’ fame, and the hit making machine that undeniably is Dub Taylor aka Tigerskin aka Korsakow. This unbelievably good line up is closed by the unbelievably crazy André Galluzzi from Cocoon, the Norwegian drum & bass production duo Future Prophecies (who will perform live), and one of the key players at Damian Lazarus’ influential imprint Crosstown Rebels, Jamie Jones.
The top Polish acts and a festival cinema will be the icing on this free cake for those who make their way to Audioriver this year. So, find some time and come to P³ock, because missing out will be much harder to take than actually making the effort to come...
